all the pieces matter

in terms of my stupidest OCD spirals: last spring i took my dog out late at night before bed and when i did something swooped out from a tree away from me and my brain decided to go 'what if that was a bat, who has rabies, and although you did not see or feel it it actually—after flying away from you—circled and bit you and you have rabies and are going to die' to which of course i said that is an insane thing to think. after not showing symptoms of rabies (because of course i did not have rabies) i decided to look up rabies to reassure myself and instead read that it can actually take months to over a year to show up which meant that my OCD kept popping back up to be like well but you could have rabies. anyway it's now been a year and 2 months so i feel confident saying that i probably don't have rabies.

good news: something flew into my head while i was taking out the trash in the dark (in reality: bug [large]; in my mind: rabid bat [tiny] which flew into me, in this delusion, teeth first without me seeing or hearing it) so now i get to do this for another year.
