Shout out to the girls who donât wear makeup
Shout out to the girls who have never worn makeup and donât want to âjust try it, you feel greatâ
Shout out to the girls who used to love wearing makeup and now donât
Shout out to the girls who know nothing about contouring and highlighter and winged eyeliner
Shout out to the girls who donât wear makeup
I actually really appreciate this post. And I hope I'm not rambling when I explain why this stuck out to me.
See, I used to wear makeup for YEARS. I SUCKED at it, mind you. And I HATED it. Eyeliner was impossible to me, and somehow I would always put on too much blush. But I still wore it. And that's because I was always raised to believe that women were not pretty or even professional if they didn't have makeup on. And I'm not talking about just being corrupted by media; my own mother insisted that I had to wear makeup wherever I went. Even to the gym. To go out without makeup was like going out without any clothes on. It was scandalous to her. And I believed that.
Then, my best friend (a guy) started to get onto me about the makeup and insisted that I didn't need it. That I looked beautiful without it. That I was HEALTHIER without it. After all, guys (typically) couldn't wear makeup and they got by without, right? Why was it a requirement for women to wear it? He convinced me to begin going without makeup, just to try it. And you know what? I did.
I began with removing a little at a time. A few days without eyeliner, then without blush. Without powder and foundation, and then without lipstick...
...at first, I was self conscious. I felt like a slob, or like a child. To go into public, or to work, and not have my mask on? To walk past beautiful, painted face girls and know that I was literally pale in comparison? I felt embarrassed for my own appearance. I felt ashamed. And what was worse: my mom only continued to criticize me for my TERRIBLE decision.
But then I began to count the pros of leaving makeup behind. What was I getting out of it?
For one, I wasn't spending a FORTUNE on foundation and cover up and god knows what else, only to have it run out in a couple of weeks. I mean, I have more important things to spend that money on right? Makeup isn't cheap.
Secondly, my skin was healthier. After a few weeks of no makeup, I suddenly realized that: wow! My skin was CRAP before. Always dry, always blocked. Now it could breathe, now it could shine on its own! And hey, I'm still young. I'm only 24! Makeup really ages the skin, so it's good that I've cut it out so early into my youth.
Third: THE TIME! I can't tell you how much TIME you get back when you cut makeup out. Jesus, I can actually get ready in only a few minutes now. Leaving the house doesn't feel like such a chore anymore because I CAN JUST GET DRESSED AND LEAVE! No more spending an hour or two in front of the facial mirror, trying to get the eyeliner on the left eye to match the right. No more trying to decide if this outfit I'm wearing requires a pink lipstick or something a little more bold red. No more going BACK to the mirror because - DAMMIT - I accidentally smudged my mascara when I was rubbing my eyes. And hey! Now I don't even have to spend the time CLEANING UP after my makeup adventure too.
Fourth: This. Is. The. Most. Important. Lesson. I actually have CONFIDENCE in myself. After getting over my initial self hatred, I was able to look into the mirror and see ME. The real me. And suddenly, I no longer hate how I look without the mask. In fact, I feel like I look weird WITH makeup on now. I like how I look. I like my complexion. I like my eyes being clear of any shading. I like that my skin feels healthy and young. And now, when I go in public and feel like people are staring at me, I no longer fear that they're criticizing me for going practically nude. No, now I feel like they're impressed - or jealous maybe - that I have the confidence to go out without covering my face in layers upon layers of powder, liquid, and color. I feel GOOD. I feel happy. I feel - dare I say it - free.
To those of you out there that truly enjoy wearing makeup, I applaud you. It's a true art form, and if it is what you like to do, go for it!
But for those of you who hate wearing makeup but feel like you have to, I want you to understand this: you DON'T need it! It is YOUR money, YOUR time, YOUR face, and if you don't enjoy masking it, then don't. Appreciate you for you. Love how you look without the help of any cosmetics. We women have been conditioned to believe that we need makeup like we need shirts or bras. We are considered indecent without it. BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. The only GOOD reasons for us to wear makeup is that we TRULY enjoy doing it. The only GOOD reason for us to wear makeup is that we WANT to wear it for ourselves, not for random strangers we will never see again.
So next time you're about to put on that foundation, I want you to stop and truly look at the mirror. Look at yourself.
And accept that you are more beautiful without makeup than you are with it.
Catching up on Fairy Tail and finally got to Michael's introduction đ

Seeing Lazer Team with a friend tonight and I can't find my AH Jacket!!! How do I show off my dedication now?!?!
Siri, you need STYLE
Alright so I had a dream last night: I had this device similar to Amazon's Echo, that I could talk to and tell to do things like turn on my lights and update my calendar. Only this device's name was Jeeves and he talked like a British butler. So for some reason I kept calling Jeeves Jeremy so I asked him if I could change his name and he said yes and recommended James (guess he liked that name). So I changed it to James and he started to talk like a 1920's gangster. That's when I realized that if you changed his name, you changed his voice too. So I started going through all the names he'd be willing to change to and one of them was Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. And he sounded like Vegeta. Like no joke, he became Vegeta and I was so thrilled that I said that I loved him and he angrily yelled back "I love you too!" all pissy like Vegeta would. Why aren't we funding something like that??? Wth can't Siri turn into Vegeta or some other beloved, fictional character and angrily confess his love to me???!?!?! We, the generation of high tech and high fantasies, need to get on this! Bring our characters to life!!

Somebody, anybody, find this shirt and send it to Jack!
To Jonathan Stroud
I'll admit it, I've been putting off reading Lockwood & Co. all this time simply out of fear that it wouldn't be up to par with one of my favorite book series of all time from the same author (AKA: Bartimaeus) but I've finally gotten over that fear and read the first Lockwood book. Though Bartimaeus is and will always be my favorite, I have to say that Stroud did not disappoint me: Lockwood was interesting, funny, and a perfect example of his entertaining and creative writing style. I fell in love with the characters immediately, and find the reality they live in to be a wonderfully weird take on the horror stories we have all heard around a campfire. I look forward to reading more, to seeing how the characters develop, how their relationships with one another advance. Jonathan Stroud, you were my favorite authors in my childhood, and you'll continue to be one my favorites throughout adulthood. And as someone hoping to be an author one day, I'd just like to say thank you for your amazingness :) Much love, A Forever Fan
Not only was the Sting mentioned in the recent Minecraft Letâs Play NOT the Sting that Michael voices in Fairy Tail, but they AGAIN did not make a âdragon slayerâ joke when Michael was up against the Ender Dragon. Sorely disappointed.Â
So I'm watching Naruto and Sasuke keeps referring to himself as an avenger. Naturally, I had to make this.
Dear Americano Bitch...
Picture if you will: my coworker  on the register, her partner on the bar. College age white girl comes up to order two shots over ice in a grande cup.
Coworker on bar:Â âJust ring that up as a grande iced americano.â
Customer:Â âWhat if I donât want an americano? I want two shots over ice.â
Coworker: Thatâs our americano.
Customer: Yeah but I donât want water in it!
Coworker: We donât put water in our ice amricanos. Here, we only put ice and shots.
Customer: But I donât want water!
They proceeded to argue for several minutes, the girl INSISTING that she knew about our drinks than we did. She yelled and screamed and cussed my coworker out before storming off. My coworker was so frustrated (because she was trying to keep that friendly, customer service attitude up) that she was in tears in the end.Â
Fast forward one week and a day.Â
I am on register. A different coworker is on bar. Neither of us where there when Americano Bitch (Thatâs what we call her) was there but we had heard all about the incident.Â
Up walks a college age white lady. She is the only one in line.Â
Customer:Â âI want two shots over ice in a grande cup.â
Me:Â âOh ok. Well thatâs actually just our iced americano.â
Customer: *instantly melts into a much bitchier face*Â âI donât WANT an americano. I want two shots over ice.â
Me:Â âRight. Thatâs how we make our Americanos.â
Customer:Â âBut I dontâ want water in it!â
Me:Â âWe donât put water in it unless weâre asked to. The espresso shots melt the ice, so we donât really need to put water in it.â
Customer: âWell I didnât know that! Other places put water in theirs. The girl that was here last time was REALLY rude. She kept arguing with me and I donât remember her name but she wouldnât actually tell me about the water and itâs like âhello, thatâs your job to tell me about your drinks.â (Iâm not joking. Thatâs seriously what she said.)
Me: *quietly smiling while internally cussing this girl out for making my sweet coworker cry and now guilelessly trashing on her*
SO my coworker makes the grande americano and the girl leaves to go to our bar. As soon as she turns around, my coworker and I lock eyes and immediately try to hide our laughing.Â
We also watch with absolute disgust while this bitch fills the americano up with 2% milk, instantly turning it into a cheap-manâs iced latte.Â
She comes back up to us a few minutes later.
Customer:Â âThis doesnât taste right.â
Me: *so done with this*Â âWhatâs wrong with it?â
Customer:Â âI donât know, itâs just has like a bitter after taste.â
Me:Â âDid you put anything in it?â
Customer:Â âJust milk. I do the same thing at Starbucks and it always tastes better than this.â
It is important to note here that we are not Starbucks. We are a different coffee brand with different products. On top of that, while Starbucks has an espresso machine that pulls their shots for them, we have to pull our own shots, often redoing them if they come out at the wrong number.Â
Me:Â âDo you usually put a flavor in it? Because all we did was put two shots over ice.â
Customer:Â âNo I donât want flavor. How long were those shots sitting there?â
My coworker on bar:Â âI pulled them while you were standing right in front of me. Theyâre fresh.â
Customer:Â âWell, it tastes bad.â
Me: *unable to stop myself from rolling my eyes but still trying to keep on a smile*Â âDo you want me to remake it for you?â
Customer:Â âWell not if youâre going to be agitated about it.â
And she stormed off.
Honey, I am WAY passed agitated. I am PISSED. Do not come up here and make my coworkers CRY then trash talk them when theyâre not around, then insult my coworkerâs art and hard work, and then INSULT MY POLISHED AND AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICES SKILLS THAT I HAVE ANÂ USUALÂ AMOUNT OFÂ PRIDE IN. If you worked in our job, you wouldnât have the tolerance to put up with half the sort of shit youâre spitting out.Â
I hope youâre reading this, Americano Bitch, because I want you to know that if you EVER come back, you are getting decaf shots and the rudest freaking service you have ever had in your life.Â
Also, my supervisor has threatened that she will be the one to make YOU cry if you ever walk up while sheâs there. And I pray to whatever god you believe in that Iâm there to watch it all.Â
Sincerely,
One very p.o.ed shift leader.Â
