SNL For Serious

The real Joe Cocker finally appears on SNL. His bare tummy also has a cameo and I'm pretty sure his pants are unbuttoned. Uh, yeah.

I don't even want to know what those bee costumes had to smell like by season 2.

Look at this fucking hipster Dan Aykroyd.

Eric Idle hosts. Odds are good that this will be a solid episode.

He's Richard Belzer and you're not.

Whoa! So that's why he wears a hat - to cover up that Larry David look.

This is Norman Lear's daughter. She is to blame for Boz Scaggs.  Boo to her! (She's probably a nice girl but Boz Scaggs is way too smooth jazz for my taste.)

The girls sing a lovely song about the absent Chevy. SO GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Jane Curtin fills in for Chevy as the Weekend Update anchor because his groin is all ouch-y hurt-y.

It looks like everybody was rocking the open neck look in the 70s.

Boz Scaggs got to be the musical guest at the special request of Norman Lear. Apparently Norman's daughter had a total boner for Boz-y Baby. God knows why, because this guy positively reeks of the 70s.

Hello, cameos!

Norman Lear, the creative genius behind some of the most beloved television shows of the 1970s (All in the Family, Maude, The Jeffersons, Good Times, plus about a million more), hosted the second episode of the season. He's a random choice but luckily he's rather charming indeed.

After seriously hurting his groin (ouch!) during the show-opening pratfall of the previous episode, Chevy Chase calls the set from his hospital bed to coach Gilda through the cold open.  Chevy is all professional, baby!

OH! Lily Holiday.  I see what they did there.
