NEXT VERSTAVE FICS
So I am wrapping up Fire Dance (mostly done writing can’t wait to share the chapters!) and have two fics lined up that I want to write just don’t know which to post first when I do.
Which is why I’m gonna ask you guys :)
1: Le Seine and I
This one is simpered by @walrusface and their wonderful lil fic about handler Gustave & agent Verso. I read it and was like “wow now I have this au living rent free in my head” and therefore I must write it.
Basic idea: it’s gonna be more mission impossible/ James Bond coded, more towards mission impossible for the comedic area and James Bond for action. Handler/ BAMF Gustave & and his chaotic adrenaline junkie agent Verso.
Preview/ vague ish idea bc brainrot:
“Code word.”
Verso leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms with the air of a man announcing something both obvious and long overdue. Across the room, Gustave's fingers paused over his keyboard. He looked up at him over the rim of his round glasses, eyebrows lifting.
“I'm sorry?”
“We should have one,” Verso said. “A code word. Between handler and field agent. A backup signal for when everything goes sideways.”
He brushed an imaginary speck of dust from the sleeve of his tailored jacket.
“Do you usually plan for things to go wrong?” Gustave asked with a weary sigh, turning away from his computer to face him.
“No.” Verso shrugged. “But in this line of work, it's better to be prepared than surprised. One of us says the code, the other knows something's wrong and gets out as quickly as possible.”
Gustave considered it for a long moment.
“A code word is too conspicuous,” he said at last. “A phrase would sound more natural. Something you could slip into a conversation without anyone noticing. Something that still sounds like you.”
It wasn't a terrible suggestion. It also did absolutely nothing to ease the knot of anxiety that had settled in his stomach ever since he'd been assigned to handle Verso.
“I'll meet you by the Seine.”
Gustave blinked. “What?”
“I'll meet you by the Seine.” A small smile tugged at the corner of Verso's mouth. “That's our phrase.”
2 : Bienvenue au, bienvenue au
Welcome to the, welcome to the (show)
Circus Au!!!! Inspired by musicals. Like other side from greatest showman, Coney Island from love never dies, razzel dazzel from Chicago.
Basic Idea: set in the real world of Clair Obscur (chroma, artist factions, ect.) but with no fire. Verso falls in love with the traveling circus and a particular performer. Probably seven ish chapters because Verso has a very limited amount of time to make a life changing decision.
This one I have a little written but not a lot.
Preview:
The performers gathered hand in hand across the rings and bowed together as the audience rose in a standing ovation. Flowers rained down from the balconies. Cheers shook the tent.
Then, slowly, the lanterns dimmed and the dream dissolved.
Before he truly understood what was happening, Verso found himself following his family back toward their waiting carriage, the sounds of celebration fading behind them with every step.
The circus grew smaller in the distance.
Yet the feeling it had awakened refused to fade.
It lingered in his chest, bright and restless, urging him toward something he could not yet name.
He wanted that. That freedom, that feeling of creating without restraint.
The question was no longer whether he wanted to chase it.
Only how.
