thinking about the fact that francis has pretty much only socialised with other knights or the palace's inner circle for the last couple of decades and now he is so so so incredibly rusty at a social game he managed to avoid for so long and he doesn't even have the dignity of his office to hide behind

#he knows all the polite addresses and the formal conventions but he is NOT good at talking to strangers. especially civilian strangers #also thinking about the fact that his family isn't nobility and francis worked really hard to improve their station #but at the end of the day he's just a knight (a very well-respected and esteemed knight but still)

and i changed my mind i think francis is gonna lock in on trying to find a match (allegedly) purely because he has no fucking idea what else to do with himself and it seems like the expected next step and he is nothing if not dutiful
