"Do you mind if I get back to work?" (Hae'iel)
"By all means. You must be very busy." Han said, uncharacteristic cheer coloring his voice and a dangerously insincere grin splitting his face in two. Despite giving her leave to resume her duties, and despite being entirely too large to sit comfortably in her chair, the demon looked quite settled behind Hae'iel's desk.
He followed the angle of her tired glower to his muddy bootheels. Hanael's glib smile drooped into a glib frown, as if noticing for the first time that he'd set them atop a stack of critical paperwork. Gingerly, Han raised his heel and plucked off the soiled paper that stuck to it. He knew what it said already, but he faced it to Hae'iel to make sure she did too:
DISCREPANCY REPORT SCHWARTZ, AUDRA
"Shit, my bad. Hope it was not important."
Hae'iel emoted better than many of her siblings; a skill earned and well used as part of her role. It was notable then that she made no effort to in response to Hanael’s taunting.
It wasn’t the muck that bothered her; she saw feces and worse every day as she worked. Death was not often as clean and dignified as people might hope.
It waa the disrespect that rankled, and for so little benefit. “There are copies. I can have another made.” she stated plainly. “You are welcome to keep that one.” She settled in one of the chairs meant for guests as comfortably as she would have in her own. “Did you believe all records of the discrepancy would vanish with a single document? Perhaps that would work in Hell. Not here.”
patron saint of lost faith
patron saint of leaving it by the roadside. patron saint of it slipping out of your fingers. patron saint of searching and searching. patron saint of yearning for it back. patron saint of scraping your fingers down to the bone trying to hold onto it. patron saint of losing it anyway. saint of lost faith. not the saint of getting it back.

Antonia Lyon the telepath. Brown hair, blue eyes, short. Descendent of a fey.
“Oh, that one. Rarely, and with mild frustration. I refuse to try collecting her again, she vanished twice.”
What do you think of Antonia?
“Which Antonia? It is quite a common name.”

A character who has a personal grudge against a god, but they're both like, super petty about it

The jaded humor when shit hits the fan at work
“Don’t Work with Death!”
“Don’t work with death, because then you invite it into your house.”
Death is already in my house. Death is everywhere. Death is what decays the plant matter that feeds my garden. Death is what feeds the herbs I use in my spells, for each grows from what died before it.
Death is what feeds my family - death of plants, the death of animals. I would not disrespect the spirits of that which feeds us by ignoring their sacrifice.
Death is the veil between my ancestors and myself, keeping them at rest and then acting as the gate for them to step into their next life.
When I do hospice work and sit with someone who is accepting their approaching death, I don’t tell them death is something to fear or avoid. I tell them death is the friend that walked beside them, every step of their life, maintaining the balance of the world, and waiting for them with open arms, to escort them to rebirth.
“Don’t work with death!”
I would not ignore life’s partner, not for arrogance or fear or ignorance. When I go to my own, I want to greet death with respect, acceptance, and gratitude.

Bio and Stats
Bio:
Once, heaven had been a place of only peace. Once, there was a perfect garden that had never known death. Once Haeiel was simply a spirit of change, a companion of creation. And then came the Fall. The War. And the spirit of change was changed.
Haeiel is a minor angel of death under the command of the archangel Azrael. A loyal servant of God and Man, Haeiel's duty is to appear at the time of a person's death to offer them a last chance of repentance, and to guide them then to heaven.
Which seems like a simple enough job, until soul stealing nightmares start getting involved. Demons, necromancers, and other nasty creature the angel could really do without. Contract cases are the worst. Divine and infernal contract law and the right of mortal will binds the angel's hands in any case were the demon has been careful to avoid loopholes. And they've gotten very good at that over the millennia.
It is always painful to watch.

Stats:
Name: Haeiel (Hae’i’el) Species: Angel Appearance: Changes to suit circumstance, though their eye are always a backlit gold. Their true form is a nigh-incomprehensible mass of divine grace.
Haeiel is an angel, and should not be underestimated if pressed to confrontation. Only divine weapons will harm them, only the most powerful magics bind them. However, they are not given to aggression or violence, more likely to vanish then engage in confrontation. That’s just not her job.
