He is not just an “ex-Henry Cow”: he is an entire philosophical system, a walking laboratory of sound, politics and anthropology.
Born on May 1, 1949, in Salisbury, Hodgkinson studied Social Anthropology at Cambridge, but left academia to found Henry Cow with Fred Frith in 1968.
Since then, he has become one of the most consistent and radical figures in European experimentalism.
Hodgkinson is the author of pieces such as Living in the Heart of the Beast, a political manifesto in the form of music.

i have made a socially hellish religious rule where one is supposed to err on the side of not diminishing someone else's emotional or creative spark . because that spark could lead to so many good things so it's bad to discourage it. this is BAD because if taken too literally or to the extreme this seems like it would create socially UNBEARABLE situations.
and ic ant stop laughing. i cant stop imagining someone being sooo super fucking devout or whateverrrr. they take it soo serious . and they're at their wits end because they cant tell their excited friend they're being annoying. they can't do this but it's not just cuz it'd be a social Fox Paw or whatever- but because they take that tenet of their religion as seriously as a fire & brimstone christian takes hell. imagine it. imagine that kind of seriousness. imagine what strange coping mechanisms they must have invented, what odd rules they make up to make it "ok" sometimes (as we all do with our religious rules, if we are of the mind to follow such rules or be spiritual or what have you) to live a life so unable to voice simple frustration. and they lash out but can't explain why. andd they. ahahah. oh my goddddd.
and the funniest thing!! is that, like with most religions, they do it to themselves! nobody HAS to take that rule so seriously. most people can agree there must be some leeway. but because you CAN take it so far some people naturally WOULD. They take it so serious and hate that others don't. but can't sink to the others level because that would be admitting it is ok to be like that sometimes, and all their suffering and irritation would have been entirely self imposed, giving credence to the ideas of their hated enemies! with whom they would want nothing to share!! HAHAHA!!! they would be living a torturous life of their own creation !! >XD AAAAHAHHA THAT'S SO FUCKING FUNNY
