it was initially just an "i like these two characters, lets just make them kiss like toys"

and then there was like, a little fun in it

so its something of, two people who dont have the primary figure who they revolved and centered their identities around no longer being in their lives and from that finding some kind of new solace in each other. for battat, its to care for flowery and for flowery, its in acknowledging at the forefront of his mind and cementing it that it is alright for him to just be a flower. being someone to care for is sometimes enough, he doesnt HAVE to be more than this to love and be loved.

it is also just funny for flowery as a plantner to be more knowledgeable in ways about hometown, and potentially information that battat doesnt know about for mysteries hes been pursuing. battat's theory crafting is reminiscent of asgore's .. less humorous and more stressful pursuing of the truth. it's just a little cathartic for flowery to listen in on someone so passionate about something but not to the degree of their life falling apart around them.

flowery also being a flower, in the dark world would require more attention and care especially in the state he is in.. who has experience running in circles to tend to a fussy picky boss who may have arbitrary needs? .. hm

its just that for this, these needs are not picky for the sake of being picky, its someone who genuinely needs this kind of care and theres no ulterior motive. its just someone who would greatly benefit from.. a green thumb improving their living situation.
