leaving this weary town

Zoey realizes shes in love loudly on a Wednesday, in the middle of a recording session. Fortunately for her, the only person in the studio with her is Bobby. Unfortunately for her, she realizes shes in love with two people.

Zoey explains to Bobby the realization she just had, and apologizes for the sudden f-bomb she dropped. Bobby says it’s fine, and asks if she plans to try to date them soon. Zoey thinks she might die if they don’t like her back.

Rumi doesn’t realize shes in love until after everything. She spent her whole life pushing away her negative emotions, and any foreign emotions, to the point she couldn’t even recognize what attraction feels like.

It’s two months after the Idol awards, after the Honmoon was shattered and repaired, and it’s in the middle of her second meeting with Celine. Celine had been in the middle of explaining to Rumi that she thought that Rumi could use some space from her because she is clearly uncomfortable, right before Rumi suddenly straightened and looked at her in shock.

“I think I’m in love with Mira and Zoey.”

Celine freezes.

For a single instant, Celine is thrown 25 years into the past, when Mi-yeong came to her in tears about how she was in love with Celine and Rumi’s father.

Celine snaps back to the present, seeing the still shocked expression of her charge at the revelation.

“Wait, why are you so surprised? You’re the one that just told me you love them.”

Celine is confused, until Rumi explains. Shes spent the last five years of her life hiding from Mira and Zoey, keeping up walls and staying emotionally distant. Rumi groans when she realizes shes quoting that quak doctor.

Rumi says that she doesn’t know whether Zoey or Mira like her like that. She knows they like each other, (Zoey confessed during one of her hyper energetic rants after she had three monsters in 30 minutes. It was a little terrifying. Mira had confessed after drinking too much, saying she wanted to kiss Zoey silly.) but doesn’t know what that means for the three of them.

Celine puts a hand on Rumi’s shoulder, trying to help give her daughter some comfort. She says that she should just ask them, that open communication is the first step to any healthy relationship. (The irony of that truth isnt lost on either of them, even if they don’t address it.)

She says that when she gets back to the penthouse, that she should just sit down with them, and ask. That way they can tell her, and it won’t become some weird, really drawn out argument that splits them apart in some weird way where they only come back together after some weird accident happens.

(Rumi gives Celine a look. Celine averts her gaze, not elaborating).

Rumi ends up agreeing to the frankly terrifying plan, thanking Celine. They finish up shortly after, giving a fair well to each other. Celine watch’s Rumi leave, letting a small smile grow on her face at what’s about to happen. Shes not blind, she knows exactly how Zoey and Mira look at Rumi when she’s not looking at them.

And so, Rumi goes home.

Mira and Zoey are waiting there, having received a message from Celine to listen to Rumi, and be honest. (They are deeply terrified of whatever else she will say to them.) Rumi sits, fidgeting.

Zoey goes to say something, reconsiders, and stays quiet.

Mira opens her mouth, a half formed question on her tounge, before closing it.

Rumi finally looks up, taking a breath to steel herself.

She says she loves them. Both of them. Romantically.

Mira and Zoey are stunned.

They stay silent a hint too long, and Rumi starts to stand, apologizing, but they each grab one of her hands, guiding her to a sitting position.

Zoey speaks first, admitting she feels the same for both Mira and Rumi. She says she’s been terrified to say anything because she doesn’t want to lose them, even after everything.

Mira says that shes felt this way for years, but never admitted her feelings because she couldn’t risk Rumi or Zoey deciding to leave Huntrix because she couldn’t avoid being emotional.

Rumi half laughs, half sobs as she pulls them both into a hug. She admits that them avoiding this talk honestly feels a little silly now. Mira and Zoey agree, not letting go of her or each other for a while longer.

They end up telling Celine and Bobby they’re together after a week. They both already knew, but still act surprised so the girls feel better about their secrecy. It’s… not the best, after the last two months of peace.

They announce it to the world after a few months, finding massive support from their own fans and others outside the community they’ve built. There are those who disapprove, but their voices are drowned out by the love of the ones who care about them.

They still struggle at times to communicate, difficulties admitting they need more, but it gets better with time. Eventually, they ask Celine and Bobby for permission to marry the others, separately of course.

Life moved on, and the final hunters rested in the love they have for one another.
