As the third part of the couple, Harry obviously was the first one to know about their engagement. 

I’d been wanting to reread the HP books for a while and, what do you know, with the world going to shit I finally got around to it. And oh boy, did I fall in love with Ron Weasley all over again. 

The movies sure ruined both his character and Hermione’s (and thus, their relationship) also JK Rowling didn’t help matters one bit, with her statements

Can we just talk this for a second...

1) I find it absolutely hILARIOUS that Ron has a bOOK on how to deal with girls, specifically a certain bookish girl ;)

2) the fact that Fred and George saw how much Ron was struggling in the romance department and were like... ayeee let’s give him this book as a gag gift (because knowing Fred and George they gave this to Ron as an ironic joke) but then Ron TOOK IT SERIOUSLY AND WAS LIKE “YEAH I NEED TO LEARN ABOUT GIRL” while gazing fondly across the room at the girl behind a particularly large book AND BEING THE CINNAMON ROLL THAT HE IS TOOK EVERY WORD TO HEART AND SHARED THIS KNOWLEDGE WITH HIS BEST MATE

3) the lOYALTY of Ronald Weasley here:

Because for yEARS Ron has been in Harry’s shadow (by no ones fault or wish) and this includes the romance department. Girls (and boys *cough* Draco *cough*) giggle at the ever oblivious Harry wherever he goes and Ron, who is not so oblivious to all this attention, has to fight to get the attention of any girl until he finally gets the attention of Lavender (and poor Hermione who’s probably had a crush on him for years but would never let Ron know that yet). So Ron finally gets advice on girls, and he sees his best mate, who is sO INCREDIBLY AWKWARD AND OBLIVIOUS but who always gets all the attention from girls, and he decides that instead of keeping this amazing info that has taught him so much about girls to himself so that he can finally get attention outside of being Harry’s friend, he would choose to share this info because by gOSH Harry really needs it he is sO AWKWARD and his best friend and anyways what I’m trying to say is rON WEASLEY IS SO INCREDIBLY SELFLESS AND CHOOSES LOYALTY OVER HIS INSECURITIES AND ANYONE WHO SAYS HE IS A BAD FRIEND OBVIOUSLY HAS NOT READ THE SAME BOOKS I HAVE. I COULD WRITE ENTIRE ESSAYS VOLUMES ON WHY RON IS ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTERS IN THE SERIES

4) Romione
