"all religious text is fantasy" is incorrect for several reasons. However the reasons are interesting and they highlight one of my favorite things about religious studies; the emic vs etic divide. Basically, how the authors conceived of their work at the time, and how we conceive of it now.

Christian fiction did exist. One of my favorite stories in the Decameron is about a terrible man becoming a saint. But our Modern notions of "fantasy literature" didn't exist. For Dante's time, stories about fairies and monsters were much closer to folklore.

The Divine Comedy was part of a genre that doesn't really exist anymore; it is a Visio. This is a genre of dream or visionary literature you see all over the medieval era. It has its own conventions and tropes. I'm no expert on medieval literature, but I can say with confidence it doesn't fit into modern notions of fantasy.
