Less common do i see people atlking about the Willow and Sam parallels. The smarty pants turned magic drug addict, the inherent almost selfishness that occurs just because they have always been protected by dean/buffy and its a staple of their world. The dead girlfriend (though it happens at fifferent parts of their arcs) causing them to spiral and make choices they wouldnt normally make.

Idk honestly but this was sparked bc i saw a post comparing s1 sam to a fawn and that made me think of Willow looking innocent and then gutting the fawn to take its heart

But also look at buffy/dean doing a quick check in on willow/sam from early seasons of both shows.

And with jessica is her (sometimes annoying) sister who is dealing with her own trauma after growing up a child star who her mother pawned off to people and then got her hooked on drugs. And theres also the lesbian lawyer jessica works with that is so driven by her own greed and selfishness that it got her where she is at the beginning but almost consumes her at the end. And Hope, (aptly named) the catalyst starting off jessicas path to move forward and address her trauma by being an innocent pawn, bc if shes innocent and forgivable in jessicas eyes, the jessica deserves to forgive herself too.

This show and specifically s1 is so flushed with imperfect, fully realized female characters alongside male characters also grieving and traumatized in their own way and a villian that is truly so horrifying that i cant BELIEVE more people dont talk about it.

Its got a fun noir aesthetic, a snarky main character, and a Story to Tell.

I wanna see the Garp opera so bad but the closest i can get is the front page review. I'll post the full transcription below the cut but importantly they mention Tsuru, Sengoku, Cindry and celestial dragons!!!

The back page of the newspaper also has readable articles about ChouChous pet shop being rebuilt and an obituary for someone in Water 7 (that i dont think is a real character) that mostly just mentions the Agua Laguna

Some of the most enjoyable moments of the show are the vignettes flashing back to the Vice Admiral's cadet days in the ------ and --- alongside now Fleet Admiral Sengoku and now Vice Admiral Tsuru, the latest in particular being one of the key stand-outs of the show, with an effervescent stage presence not seen since the late Victoria Cindry.

Someone to watch for sure, "Denied Promotion" is a uniquely inspired number (pitting) the Vice Admirals unyeilding admiration for the Celestial Dragons against his
