A gimmick is a blog that follows its bit! Like a blog about identifying cats, and it identifies cats, that’s a gimmick blog. Gimmick blogs have been around way longer than official’s and are generally more accepting.

Officials are more weird as there’s no true way to identify them. More or less they have to have ‘official’ (spelled correct or not) in their name, and just have fun and be big. Also most of them hate being called gimmicks for some reason unknown to me.

the gimmickverse can be more than just the "common theme" gimmicks (never developed this idea.

oh and also!! gimmick blogs commonly ended with "official" pre-officialverse. maryland-official (which would be a common theme blog if we were to define them this way) already existed, and so did official-maryland :3 that's why my blog ends with "officialLY"

many gimmicks have deactivated, or changed to become officalverse blogs, or both. (because the gimmickverse has become much less active. I've thought about making my own official blog tbh, but changing Maryland into one would be a betrayal (to myself))
