Pakkun... Pakkun was missing. Every time Kakashi tried to summon him... he just didn’t appear. It made Kakashi very, very concerned. At first he thought Pakkun was just being unruly, but after a couple more attempted summons over the course of a few hours, with no results...

Evie leaned over in her seat to see a very tall man with white hair entering her room. The dog looked unbothered so that must mean he was his owner.

“Hello! You must be the one dear Pakkun was talking about. He was lost so I decided that I would keep him company until he found you. Poor thing was exhausted.” The witch got up with a smiled walking toward the man, seemingly unbothered by his presence. “Come! Sit down and join us!” Before he would say anything else he was ushered to the table and served a cup of tea and some little cakes. “I was just telling your companion how he reminds me of my friend who runs a marketplace…a dapper little pug who always wears the most exquisite suits.”

It was then Kakashi noticed Pakkun. Kind of – sitting there smug and smirking in the corner. Squinting, the jonin looked at him for a moment, and then just sort of… narrowed his eyes. His shoulders sagged. “This is all a big joke to you two, isn’t it?” he asked, sighing. “There was no trouble at all, was there?”

“Not anymore,” Pakkun answered, sounding as amused as he looked.

The inside of the tent revealed a shop that was much larger than should have been possible given the size of the tent from the outside. All over there were neatly lined bottles and jars or various colors and sizes, but no Pakkun. However, towards the back of the tent, there was a sliver of light and the sound of muffled laughter and conversation came through.

“You remind me of a friend of a mine. He sometimes helps me get rare ingredients that I can’t find here.” Evie was sitting at the small table inside her tent’s atelier and across from her was a cute dog who she was conversing with. The small creature was lost, so she decided to give him a place to rest and eat while his owner looked for him, the pleasant conversation just happened to be a bonus.

He stopped short as he saw the inside of the tent, which was… bigger on the inside? A squint there, as he cast a quick gaze back at where he had been, but, no, there was no mistaking it. Was it a genjutsu? It must have been. He quickly put a hand up. Release! But, nothing changed. A strong genjutsu, then. Possibly harmless, but–his attention focused to the woman at the back of the tent laughing. More squinting.

“Hmmm I feel like that logic is flawed, if I wanted to interrogate you I would have just kept you barely alive, not used a months supply of my special burn ointment on you.” Her voice was cheerful despite the words coming out of her mouth.

The witch waited with an amused look on her face while the stubborn boy looked for any signs of poisoning. Finally he let her help him drink the water. “Isn’t that better? Don’t you feel silly for waiting that long now? Once your mouth and throat are less dry I’ll give you something to help with the pain. I’ll even eat one too if want, in case you think I’m still trying to poison you.”

She took the cup away when he was finished. “You can call me Evie or Eva, I’ll answer to either. And I’m just a traveler, I’m not affiliated with any of the people I see wearing those metal items on their forehead. I figured that’s probably what you were really asking me.”

He tries not to pout at her tone at him, as if she’s talking to a child, but how was he supposed to know that she was poor? Of course the tent should’ve been the first sign, but he could’ve also mistook her for a traveling shinobi if what she says is to be trusted. At least he didn’t feel anything of that of poison. But who exactly is she?  “No, it’s not “silly” of being too careful. Especially for outsiders like ourselves as me being in this state is any proof.” 

Seeing that he was talking a little more now she stood up and went over to a little vanity next to what appeared to be kind of a bed (more of a nest of pillows and blankets) and picked up what looked like a candy from an ornate glass container. “I guess yes I’m technically a civilian, but nope! I don’t know anything about a new village” Crouching down again she popped the sweet Candy into his mouth. “It’s a lozenge made with honey and some other herbs, it will help with your throat.”
