My default is long tail in pattern, but I may have to try out twisted German (the image is linked to the source blog and an entry about the Twisted German Cast On).

I’d also include Chinese Waitress in with the decorative cast ons. For those not familiar with it, it looks a lot like i-cord but without having to knit a lot of cord and then pick up stitches from it. I’d post a photo of it but my only project that I’ve used it on is black (and currently about fifty miles away from me).

Omg this is just adorable!

I finally finished my Menorasaurus Sweater! I was really dragging my feet on the collar, partially because it's the middle of summer and working on it required a huge sweater in my lap but partially I just ran out of steam for it. Kinda like second sock syndrome. But it's finally done!

Ever wanted to make you a nice homegrown crochet blanket? This is how ya do it:

First, you make a Butt Ton of chain stitches. Like a lot.

now single crochet in all of em.

Ok how on to the fun part. Pick a pretty stitch that you want to make a blanket out of.

Do that stitch on ur blanket and do it for enough rows that you have a good blanket.

end off.

nice job, you made a blanket. Go forth and be cozy

I am one of those weird people who actually enjoys knitting with DPNs. Of course, a big part of it is because when you use DPNs you either look like you mean serious business or you’re in the middle of summoning an eldritch being.
