Skipping Town || Solo
Gone. They were just gone, the strength, speed and power of a Slayer that he had possessed all of his life had been taken away from him in a cruel twist of fate. The ability to find vampires, even the trick to find witches, it was all gone and he wasn’t ever going to get it back. His whole life would never ever be the same again after that night.
Devastated just didn’t begin to cut it.
He had been raised his whole life, under the belief that it was his god given right and duty to protect the innocents of this world from the blood sucking menace that was the race of Vampires. He had trained for 25 long hard grueling years, hardening himself and his body into a tool and a weapon for the destruction of the Hunters of the night. The Vamps hadn’t stood a chance.
His parents had told him that he was a prodigy, he was the end times for those that stuck to the shadows and enjoyed sucking the blood of the innocents, he was the new model of Slayer, and he had been really good, he had been a prodigy. Hacking off the heads of Vampires, staking them, drenching them in blessed water that would burn them, he had done things that no one before him had and he was a real trail blazer.
And then his duty had become all that more clear.
When his parents had been taken from him, burnt away in a fiery inferno that Brian could do nothing against, well he had been terrified, and he had realized that there was clearly more than one menace in this world that needed his help, and so he had started his tally, first the witch that had killed his parents.
Then an old warlock that had been lurking around bars, impressing people with bright lights and loud bangs, then there had been that witch in Louisiana. She had been difficult to kill. The tally went on, until there were five marks on his chest, but none of that mattered anymore.
He was done.
With a forlorn sigh he shouldered his rucksack and made his way out of Avon’s house, though he had lost his powers and knew that without them he would never survive in Ashkent Creek. He had left her a message on her computer, but he didn’t want to see her anymore, he wanted to get out of there and leave this place. He needed to find somewhere to mourn, someone to hole up and be alone.
He needed time to consider his next move.
With a sigh and a single tear trickling down his face, he set of into the sunset, looking for an answer to his problem, looking for a way to become a Slayer once more.
