‘Kash’

Another dream, that’s what Addley had. They were sparatic, and random of course, but some of them included his old friend, you. Many memories he carried from then were awful, but the ones with you made those times bearable for him. Rather fucking around and busting paint cans over sidewalks, or helping him keep secrets from his mother… which got you in more trouble than him… he always found a fondness he missed with how you joked around in his memories.

It’s been.. what… 5 or so years since he last saw you? Anyway, you weren’t coming back. Not anytime soon at least. Or he thought so.

The one thing he hated dealing with was going to happen soon. New people. New neighbors.

Fuuuuck…

Addley hated people he knew nothing about, it made him nervous. Hell, made his entire family nervous. He could even see Ike sitting on the couch and glaring out the window from where he stood. His brow furrowed in deep though, almost seeming to judge whatever he was looking at with a keen and careful eye. Trying to perhaps spot a threat..?

“See ‘em yet..?”

“They’re already starting to move in. It’s noon Addley…” was Ike’s unbothered response, just as annoyed as he always seemed to be. No matter what the hell he was asked.

Oh… people move in, in the morningggg, right!

“Damn, my bad.” Addley huffed, more peeved at his elder brother’s dismissive tone if anything. His hands still raised in mock surrender, he walked to stand in front of the window to watch this ‘new neighbor’ move their shit in.

Addley would squint.

Then his eyes would widen.

Then he squinted again.

“MA!” He shouted, earning a kick from Ike to be more respectful. “Asshole—“

Addley received a ‘hm?’ In response from the kitchen, his mother cooking for him and his siblings. She always made the best food..

“You see the neighbor-“ stupid question, of course she did, she knew everything. Probably even knew it was you who was moving in before your car ever pulled in the driveway. She probably knew your damn blood type. He wondered if she ever still talked to your parents..?

“Yes I know, you can go say hi. Just…” Addley was almost fearful of her request, knowing she had a bit of a dislike of your bad influence when you both were younger. Like Addley didn’t drag you into random bullshit before you could talk him out of it. “…be back before dark.”

Oh, he could do that— easy.

“No problem ma.”

Addley truly wasn’t expecting to feel the twinge of nervousness that clutched his chest, the back of his head tingling uncomfortably. What if you didn’t recognize him? What if he was someone you’d rather leave in your past? Now that thought just pissed him off.

All those conflicting thoughts burning away once you seemed to spot him walking up oddly slowly. It was like one of those weird sitcoms… you both stood silently for what felt like 10 hours but it only took you a few seconds to recognize him.

Jesus, did Addley look different. He still had that unmistakable energy of ‘Koffin’, that comfortable look with the ‘idgaf’ stance. Definitely was Addley.

He grew up.

You grew up.

It had only been 5 years, was this a second puberty? What the fuck.

“Addley..?” You questioned, closing the trunk of your car. Addley just bursts into a smile.

It is you. This was awesome.

“YES!” He shouts running up to you, and almost tripping over his own feet like a giddy puppy.

“Holy shit, I never thought you’d come back— it’s been forever— you’ve missed so much—“

All these years, and you realize Addley still doesn’t understand personal space. Pressed against you chest to chest in a far too tight hug. You can barely make sense of what the poor guy is saying with how fast he was talking— you swore you could hear how fast his heart was going too.

His sweater you remembered he was fond of was still in tact, with his close he was you could see the sewn holes— probably Natalie’s work.

You may have changed. Addley, sure the fuck didn’t.

That… was a good thing!

“SHHHHH—“ you shut him up, and step back. His blue eyes wide with your hand over his mouth, looking almost cartoonish. He still looked like an excited dog, staring at you expectantly. Cute to you, really.

“I know, it’s been awhile.” You chuckled, dropping your hand, Addley’s arms finally dropping to let you breathe.

Genuinely, you were happy he was still here, for whatever reason. Moving to a place so unknown and moving back to another unknown probably would’ve destroyed you. But here you have Addley, who’s chaotic attitude and snappy nature was never lost.

“Welcome home, buddy.” Addley grins, pulling you into another, softer, hug.

I have a lot of thoughts of him being just a whiny asshole, you do one thing he doesn’t like he either pouts— jutting that lip out— or just “whyyy WOULD YOU THAT?”

Like a a baby. He loves you though, if he didn’t he would’ve broken your hand.

You have to help him do a lot of things once he finds out you don’t mind kinda treating him like a baby from time to time. Plus, he gets to spend time with you… so that’s why you are now gonna help him build a fish tank. (He likes fish, I made this up in my own head and I can’t get it out.)

He does all his research on what he wants. Addley will make sure this damn fish feels like royalty— however.. that costs a shit Tom of money. Anddd, he knows how to weld and use glass? He’d just need a hand… or two.

“You know how you love me..?” Addley immediately starts one day, walking in and sliding himself on the counter toward you, legs hanging off. “You love me so much you’d do anything—“

“What do you need me to do?”

He smiles like he never thought you’d agree so quickly.

“Wanna make a fish tank..?” He stares at you with wide eyes, trying to guess your answer— and secretly pulling up manipulative tactics in his head.

Once you agree, he is thrilled.

He even lets you help him pick the fish he gets! More like handing you a list of the same species of fish with different colorings..

Addley needs everything to be perfect, and he trusts your keen eye with things like this. He watches you like a hawk nonetheless, kissing the nicks you give yourself on your fingers while cutting.. glass. He loves you, but he wants his hands to decorate the tank, you understand… he hopes.

He cuts you vaguely heart shaped fruit as compensation… some citrus. which burns your cuts but you won’t tell him that, because that’s like kicking a happy puppy.

Once it’s down to actually getting the fish.. Addley makes you go get it from a shop— because his dumbass can’t show his face. You haven’t seen him this happy in ages, so of course you comply! (You got the wrong fish but it’s okay, he forgives you.)

When you get back, Addley lets you name the fish. The black and red colored betta fish you picked up. He smiled like a kid on Christmas after you decided to name it ‘Addie’, after him.

He teaches the damn thing tricks, it’s crazy to you, and he forever thanks you for it.

Extra things::

Addley is a cuddle bug and will sit with you in front of the tank you both built and mumble in your ear, snickering at the random monologues he has. It’s like dating the fucking joker but he’s actually just silly. (Please trust me on this)

He teaches the damn fish who you are, somehow, now it will swim to the front of the tank when you walk near too… like you both my a child. (Addley loves to think of it that way…)

He’s very defensive about Addie, gets pissed at Ike if he makes any comment about how weird he is about “that damn fish”.

Everyone else actually seems to be okay with the fish, Lydia even asking you how it eats… you’re not 100% sure about the fish, but Addley could talk all day about his little water buddy.

The left hand… you know how in olden days people used to ‘train’ the ‘left-handedness” out of kids? I bring the idea of Natalie (Mother) trying to do that to Addley— news flash, didn’t exactly work— now he uses his left more dominant hand every chance he gets as his small amount of defiance against her. (Especially when she isn’t looking, he doesn’t want to actually up set her… he’s just a bit of a defiant lil asshole.)

I can see Addley def listening to all those listed, I feel like he would also like songs similar to angry polka— just cause it’s a tad different (think of ‘Sleep is for the weak’ by the Dreadnoughts), he also has like 600 band tees cause I said so— I also feel he is secretly a man of fashion. Have you seen his suspenders? He loves looking cool.

Also the mechanic thing? I CAN SEE ITTTT!!! I headcanon our boy with ADHD.. look at ‘em. All the info would be gone to the wind within’ a few hours if it can’t keep his attention.

I also feel like with broken bones, he literally somehow, while being so damn clumsy and carefree about whatever he does, rarely gets any actual injuries. He’s like that one kid you knew in high school who fell off a roof and all he got was a twisted ankle for a week… that might be true for Addley, ngl.

Also, 100% with the trust thing. For Addley to respect someone’s orders or asks, he MUST have some sort of comfort with that person. Idc— can’t tell me otherwise. He turns into an obedient dog once he feels he can put trust into someone, even if he try’s to defy them in small ways. (See answer one)

I also SOOOO agree with all the doggy traits you give him, he’s like a golden retriever raised to wreak havoc! He does whine at you when you don’t give him what he wants?? Why would you not?? He does everything you said?

He’d love any treat! Even if it’s a sticker, makes him feel so proud once you give him any sort of gratitude. Like yes, my number one person loves me and is so proud of me I got a gift..!

I also feel gifts wise, Addley would be sooo fond of things he could wear. As in; bracelets! Or earrings, anything you make he can wear? Absolutely, he will wear that shit till it breaks.

Also? Simpsons? You’re so fucking real, and I get you. (One of my faves is literally also bobs burgers, 10/10). Addley would definitely make you sit with him once his show EVER comes on the cable channel, he will make you drop everything, begging you. It’s one of the things he genuinely likes doing… just watching TV and not worrying about anything at all. Of course, he’d let you pick a show or movie every now and then… he likes Mr.Pickles… he’ll also sit and watch the Adult Swim channel for hours with you, trust me.

And AGAINNN with the ADHD thing!! Once he sees he won’t improve on a skill or subject he seems to loose interest in it. I feel, however, if you would do anything with him? Of course he would continue to do it??? One of his favorite people wants to do something with him he already knows a bit about! He’d LOVE to teach you how to play guitar, or craft— literally anything, he’s basically a walking multi tool!

His butterfly knife— he lets you put a lil sticker on it. Trust me. LISTEN PLEASE- gets dragged away

I feel like Addley likes a lot of things because of his mother, either because it was forced down his throat, or it just makes him think of her in some way. Mommas boy, through and through. (Even if she terrifies him sometimes..) He most definitely has some rings or something like that of hers, he keeps them pristine!

Pothead? He keeps edibles in a little mint can… shut up, it’s canon. He probably offered Ike one before and got smacked upside the head. (His brother was stressed? He was trynna help him. Damn.)

Doodles.. in my eyes, everyone is a doodler at heart. I feel Addley with genuinely really good at making little bubble comic like graffiti and prints. Like ‘FUCK THIS.’ But it’s all graffiti letters and in red ink. Because he’s just cool like that. (He would soooo love to give you a tattoo… like, by his own hand. It’s a marking from him that will never go away… and he can put it whatever the wants.)(pretty? or just his own name… maybe he’ll give you something cute like a skull with a bow?)

I’m all for Sour head Addley— I’m the same way. I cannot stand certain spices, I’ll die if I eat a hot Cheeto. He’s probably like that, but can eat and entire tub of just pure sour hard candy and then just accept he killed his taste buds like nothing happened. Definitely keeps a pack of sour gummies and offers them to his siblings or you randomly… c’mon… try one… they’re reallyyyy good, not that sour! Trust him.

And crying. If it was a bad situation? He would 100% awkwardly try to hold you, you’re someone he cares about— your crying may make him want to go hide, but it breaks his heart to see anyone he cares about upset. He’s gonna try his damn best to make it stop. He may even try to do something so ridiculous you forget to cry.. definitely did that to his sister before..

If it’s a hostage or victim crying??… he runs away. It’s hard for him to give a shit about them, and it does make him so damn uncomfortable. Addley isn’t much of a deep feelings guy— unless he’s high, he sounds like a philosopher

Tattoos… Addley def has tattoos, and I’d like to think he has done at least ONE himself! I see him as having those very intricate designs that he can talk hours about. The story of why he got it, who the artist was, the meaning. And then he probably has one he got while tweaked into the next dimension that’s just some stupid cartoon character with a beanie.. he ain’t got a story for that one, sorry sweetheart.

That’s A LOT, but you got my brain jogging!! I genuinely love talking abt him— because Addley doesn’t exactly have 100% set lore, that’s why I adore him so much.

Here’s a few of mine…

Addley loves fish. The animal. He would be so happy if after all this criminal stuff settled a bit he could get a fish tank and just watch them all. He thinks they’re beautiful…

It may have been from a time in the past, maybe in school his class pet was a fish— or one time in a store he saw the wall of them and decided they were his favorite animal? Whatever it was, he loves them. The shine of their scales is calming to him, loving the different breeds, and how they all seem to have personalities.

Addley would also probably be the type to pick up a stray animal and love on it. It may have 143 diseases, he dgaf… it’s a cat? Look at it? It’s a little baby? He’s stealing it. His mother definitely yells at him for this, it’s a habit he desperately tries to break. Failing miserably.

Addley is like a crow, and picks up shiny shit up give to his family, and you. I don’t care. It could be a bottle cap he polished and made into a necklace. He’s crafty, what can he say?

He HATES painting. He actually can’t stand it. It takes so much patience it just pisses him off. If he’s gonna paint, it’s gonna be finger paint, and he’s just gonna flick his fingers at the canvas like the knows wtf he’s doing. (He doesn’t)

Loves being praised for anything, and immediately gets put on edge if he even SMELLS any irritation directed at him. Depending who it is, he gets so defensive— even if there wasn’t anything wrong in the first place. You could look at him wrong and he would pout in apology, or glare and start an argument.

He’s lowkey a ticking time bomb, but a simple “it’s fine, why are you upset?” Is enough to make him just drop it…

He has habits like biting his nails, they’re so short they bleed sometimes…

Addley Koffin likes having someone else to tell him what to do, if not, he gets stressed and starts raging. Throws shit, hollarin’ and carrying on… straight chaos. But, if he has that one person at his side at all times, I can GUARANTEE he may loose that frustrated edge.

That’s where I’m putting you dear reader, you can be his voice of reason! (In these little scenarios anyway :])

Be impulsive in most decisions he makes. Which is what got him in that damn hostage situation… yep. Then there was you, poor unsuspecting— mildly irritated— you.

In this theoretical scenario, possibly pick up on your difference in nature compared to your friends. (Not like other girls head ass.) The more analytical stance you take, trying to read him.. manipulate him. Which is quite easy to do.

He may…

Become attached to someone who seems unmoving, knows who they are, and their place in the world. Calm(mostly.), and can easily tell someone right from wrong. A rock in the storm, that’s the type of person I feel would attract our Addley Koffin ~

He would think about…

If you were that hostage, he’d most likely think of a way to please you, if anything. Looking to make you drop the scrutinizing look.. even if he could literally kill you, there’s that mental barrier for authority figures that his mother so graciously beat into his skull. (Literally.. probably. She scares me.)

He would…

Probably be your way out, with how fragile he mentally seems to be, if you could push those buttons— he may let you free… or… convince his mama to keep you. Just because he said so. He likes you? What’s the deal? Stop glaring at him like that, damn.

If somehow, miraculously, you ended up in his day to day life he would use you as his… magic 8-ball. He asks you how, or if he should do anything. No matter what it is, but he would word it a different way;

“Y’ think I should sharpen these? They’re gettin’ pretty dull for… y’know.. meat cutting..?”

“I think these curtains look a tad dingy, wanna change em’?”

“Ike made that damn lil art thing for ma, think I could do better..?”

Depending on your answer, is what his next actions would be. He may seem offended if you disagree, maybe start to argue— of course quickly shutting himself down once you give him a look. He respects you… maybe a little too much.

He’s a damn bootlicker. I don’t care what anyone says. <3
