I feel like it shouldn't need to be said, but a relatively faithful adaptation of the source material is actually a very normal and reasonable thing for both an author and that author's fanbase to want. People can sneer about book purists all they want but it's the rare adaptation that surpasses the original, and HotD does not even come close.

there’s not words for what the black sails finale does to you . ive been through some Shows, some Final Episodes that have shaken me to the core, that have stayed with me. but oh my god the journey of black sails concludes in this all-consuming, all-encompassing, eternal spectre that tears your soul asunder. its so visceral. and its not even unexpected. it’s an expected narrative it’s an unexpected narrative it’s pulling apart the atomic threads of what a “narrative” is. and you are NEVER the same again. its not even possible to articulate the experience of watching it because theres no WAY to EXPLAIN.
