Went through my old sticker book that I think I started in 2013 and went up to 2017ish? And so here's my ramblings about it
So it's kinda wild and crazy, cuzz my life was so different back then. And this was before I could find stickerbooks I simply COULD not find them like not even on amazon back then!! So I just used a lined notebook.. which is kinda tacky, but also kind of artistically accurate to how I felt in my life during those years so? So it's all good haha. It also did at least have a bonus perk in that I could write little notes and comments next to some stickers.
And thank goodness I DID and now I wish I wrote MORE!
This is my sage advice as a ripe old one who is now in her mid 30's. If you don't do journals, try journaling if you have the time and energy for it!
I've always kind of tried but, it really is a form of skill and talent and something you really need to have the drive for. But it's so nice to have something that's 10+ years old and be like "Wow! I don't even remember that but now actually I do and hey! That's cool memory unlocked"
Because I'm so sad I apparently met one of my online buddies and COMPLETLEY forgot I did actually get to meet them in person once. Because they were at a con I just happened to be at in Florida at the time which is wild and normally wouldn't happen for a back-then-poor-California girl.
But I got a sticker from her! And so like, dude yeah now I remember!! It was short and brief so I suppose that would be why I could see myself forgetting but ugh- is this just like, ageing!? Or is it simply poor memory skills?
I need to step up my game on documenting my life these days. I'm kinda so grateful for how advance we have with phones now because I for sure 90% of the time now will go through my google photos files to figure out when an event happened and when based on the photos I knew I took around that time.
Because I might remember the big key event moments, but sadly the mind only likes to make core memories of something like extremely happy, extremely random, or extremely traumatic so the mundane little life happy happenstances can be forgotten! Grr!
I will probably make a separate post highlighting some of my favorite stickers from back in the long-ago days but.. yeah - so many artists I used to follow and lost track of them (I think mainly due to them switching online platforms or just being less active in general) and it was nice to remember those again too!
One person I got a LOT of stickers from- like a LOT. And back then, buying stickers was such a rare and special treat for me to do and so like, that tiny book of has yeaars worth of stickers I gathered. But one artist in particular I had a LOT of stickers from and I'm angry and this is why I wish I wrote more notes! Did I personally know them but it was like very like mutual just kind of like, chatted online here and there or maybe I met them at a con too or something?? Or was I just a huge fan? (Because their art IS rad + they made comics so I'm hoping its the latter and I'm not the biggest memory loss lame-o on the planet TTnTT ) So did I purchase them from them a lot!? Or were they generous with stickers as gifts with purchases??
But man, yeaah! The 2010's-2020's was something. My teen to starting young adulthood life. And something as simple as a sticker book just took me on a big ol journey back in time.
Imagine what a trip it could be going through my sky-rambles tag on tumblr could do for me.. I'm kinda scared though tbh haha but it's also kinda of like.. the closest thing to a diary I DO actually have.. so maybe I should start doing that and like, save them somewhere physical or at least another place digitally so I don't almost lose it all again..
