I believe that Negan, in both the show and the comics, did not have sex with any of the wives.
Negan antis believe that Negan had sex with the wives (Sherry, Amber, Tanya, Frankie, etc) in both the show and the comics. Negan antis also believe that Negan forced the wives to have sex with him in both the show and the comics.
It's true that Negan, in both the show and the comics, coerced the wives into MARRYING him. Negan, in both the show and the comics, will always be wrong for coercing the wives into marrying him.
Nobody deserves to be forced to marry anybody.
I believe that Negan, in both the show and comics, did not have sex with any of the wives.
There is not a single scene in the show or the comics, where any of the wives talk about whether they had sex with Negan or not.
There is not a single scene in the show or the comics, where any of the wives talk about whether Negan forced any of them to have sex with him or not.
There is not a single scene in the show or the comics, where they show Negan having sex with any of the wives.
I believe that the only people that TV Negan had sex with, are Lucille, Janine (the woman that Negan cheated on Lucille with), alpha, and Annie. I believe that the only people that Comic Negan had sex with, are Lucille and the mistress (the woman that Negan cheated on Lucille with).
Negan, in both the show and the comics, will always be wrong for cheating on Lucille.
JDM knows the Negan character better than any of the Negan antis.
In March of 2020, Jeffrey Dean Morgan (JDM) talks about the wives in a few tweets. JDM revealed that he had "MANY conversations with writers... very careful about what we do and say. What YOU perceive? Is your business. You're wrong. But that's your business. In fact. He's so against rape, he kills someone for it." JDM said that the writers "are very good at walking a line... personally I think negan slept alone. Wasn't interested in more than talking peoples ears off. Not pants."
JDM describes Negan as both "flawed as fuck", and "well rounded". Morgan said this about Negan's interactions with children: "Fascinating playing that side of him. He genuinely likes kids. Wants to help them. For real. We know that even before apocalypse he was a teacher. Not just grimes punks, ALL kids. Young folks definitely bring out the best in him that most don’t see."
At a 2017 Walker Stalker con, JDM was asked if he believes that Negan wants to "make pancakes" with any of his wives. Morgan brings up the fact that we've "never seen Negan actually partake in any kind of behavior that would have children." JDM said that he is not sure if Negan is "necessarily enjoying them in that way."
JDM is the one that has played the character for a decade. I'm choosing to believe JDM. At the end of The Walking Dead: Origins - Negan's Story episode, JDM says that Negan "has a code and he follows it. Right or wrong, Negan does what he does to survive. Now, can you really fault him for that?"
JDM talks about Negan's code at the 4:06 mark of this video.
If Negan was forcing any of the wives to have sex with him, JDM would not be defending Negan at all. Believe it or not, JDM does not defend every single character that he plays. JDM has never defended the comedian (Watchmen), max (The Resident), or henry delarue (The Salvation).
Angela Kang knows the Negan character better than any of the Negan antis.
In an interview from March of 2022, Angela Kang (the showrunner for seasons 9-11) confirmed that Negan "coerced many women into marrying him when he was at the Sanctuary." In an interview from March of 2020, Kang says that Negan "certainly has had some complex dealings with women."
If Negan was forcing any of the wives to have sex with him, Kang would not describe the harem as complex dealings.
Angela Kang has never talked about whether Negan had sex with any of the wives or not.
Angela Kang has never talked about whether Negan forced any of the wives to have sex with him or not.
Lets talk about the AMBIGUOUS Sherry pregnancy test scene.
In season 7 episode 3, there is a scene where Dwight sees Sherry taking a pregnancy test inside Dr. Emmett Carlson's office. The pregnancy test was negative. Negan antis believe that Negan had sex with Sherry. Negan antis also believe that Negan forced Sherry to have sex with him.
There is not a single scene where Sherry talks about why she took that pregnancy test.
There is not a single scene where Sherry talks about whether she had sex with Negan or not.
There is not a single scene where Sherry talks about whether Negan forced her to have sex with him or not.
Before Sherry became one of Negan's wives, she was in a relationship with Dwight. In season 6, episode 6, Dwight and Sherry steal Daryl Dixon's motorcycle and crossbow after he helps them escape from other Saviors. Despite Daryl offering them a place in Alexandria, they betray him at gunpoint.
Dwight and Sherry were on the run with Daryl's bike for a relatively short period, lasting roughly a couple of weeks to a few months. After that short period, they decided to return to the Sanctuary.
Angela Kang is the one who wrote episode 3 of season 7, and Kang has never talked about why Sherry took that pregnancy test. Until Kang talks about why Sherry took that pregnancy test, its gonna remain an ambiguous scene. I believe that Sherry and Dwight had sex while they were on the road with Daryl's bike. I believe that Sherry took the pregnancy test, because she had sex with Dwight.
Robert Kirkman knows the Negan character better than any of the Negan antis.
In 2025, Robert Kirkman described the harem as more controversial than the "bits with The Whisperers". Kirkman also said that he has a line that he will not cross.
In the letters hack for the one shot story, "Negan Lives!", Kirkman reveals that he was originally going to have Negan get killed by Maggie in issue 174 of the walking dead comics. Kirkman reveals that, after reading an email from Charlie Adlard (the artist for twd comic series), he decided to not kill Negan. Here is what Adlard said about Negan: "I know Negan wasn't going to last, so this issue came as no surprise, unlike the Andrea saga, but it's still sad to see him go. Nicely done;... except... I'm a bit unconvinced by the way Maggie shoots him. Are you trying to say that this is some sort of "id" thing where deep down inside, that's what she wants to do, even though she's being convinced she doesn't have to shoot him. It just feels a bit forced. As I said, the more I got to know Negan — especially over these last few years — the more I wished he'd stayed around till the end. I wish redemption would've worked for him. This is absolutely no criticism of you at all, but more a criticism of western [at least] literature/entertainment, where, because the majority of us find the death penalty — therefore an eye for an eye adage — abhorrent, we carry it out in fantasy. Hardly any western villain gets away with not dying at the end. We, as an audience, always demand the ultimate punishment for our fantasy bad guys. It's a shame we didn't break the mould with Negan... the baddest of bad guys, but very far down the road to redemption and forgiveness, who pays the usual ultimate price — death. Imagine, if he lived, what we could say about our society?"
In issue 117, at the Sanctuary, Negan kills one of his men for trying to rape Holly. Before Negan kills the guy who tried to rape Holly, Negan tells him that rape "is against the rules here. You remember the rules, don't you? You've really crossed a line here, you stupid fuck."
In issue 156, while Negan is staying at the Whisperer camp, he hears a woman's cries and discovers two men attempting to rape her. Negan protects her by throwing the men off her and violently beating them. This is what Negan says to one of the whisperers that tried to rape her: "You force yourself into that woman...and I'll force this knife into your dick hole!"
In the one-shot story, "Negan Lives!", Negan brings flowers to Lucille's grave and at one point, he apologizes to Lucille for having the harem and he admits that the harem "was kind of gross."
MARRIAGE does NOT equal SEX.
Coercion into marriage does not equal coercion into sex.
If anybody believes that all married people have sex, they are wrong.
The fact is, sexual coercion is rape.
Sexual coercion is the act of using pressure, threats, bribery, alcohol/drugs, or force to compel someone to engage in sexual activity against their will. It invalidates consent by manipulating a person through guilt, badgering, or fear, making them feel obligated to comply.
Nobody deserves to be forced to have sex with anybody.
Nobody deserves to get raped.
Nobody deserves to get sexually assaulted.
The fact is, both rape and sexual assault, are very disgusting acts.
There are Negan fans that went through rape. There are Negan fans that went through sexual assault. Some of the Negan antis have bullied Negan fans for liking Negan. Many Negan fans do not defend Negan for coercing women into marrying him, because they know that he was wrong for that.
The fact is, Negan is a fictional character from a fictional series.
JDM (the actor that plays Negan), Angela Kang (the showrunner for seasons 9-11 and writer of the show), and Robert Kirkman (the creator of Negan), know the Negan character better than any of us. I'm choosing to believe JDM, Angela Kang, and Robert Kirkman.
I believe that there's a few Negan fans (@naughtyneganjdm, @skulleemonster, @pedrospascaled, and @wheresurmoose) that know the Negan character better than any of the Negan antis.
I believe that Negan kept the wives as a symbol of power, but he did not have sex with any of them.
SOME of the Negan antis are douche-bags.
