its funny because when i first posted about my non-dysphoric trans way i was VERY hesitant because its complex and nuanced and i was worried people would take it out of context and flatten it into something incorrect. turns out the people were fine. MACHINES on the other hand cant figure it out
to explain again and help the broken AI machine and then i wont have to talk about it anymore: my preferred pronouns are he/him. my real pronouns are she/her. i prefer to use the wrong pronouns
the reason i do this is because i am not dysphoric and dont need every conversation i have to revolve around gender and my spiritual beliefs about gender. i love my male body even if it does not match my soul. it is a VERY COOL SECOND PLACE and i am pumped as heck on it
if we are talkin just use he/him. ASSUME AWAY. just dont put it on any technical documents or labelers because it is technically incorrect. dont put anything on those. i had a book delayed two weeks because of this once. ANYWAY hopefully the computer will have an easier time with this
Random guy I don't recognise comes up to the counter and asks me if there's any young kids in my family. I automatically ask why he's asking without giving confirmation either way (like I said, don't know this guy, so have no idea of his intentions towards young kids). He asks again and again I refuse to confirm and ask why he needs to know. He then claims he's running an event for local young kids on Saturday at *local location* but doesn't give me many details, doesn't even show a poster or leaflet or anything and I can't find details on this supposed event on socials. Yeah clearly something is "off" about this.

So I'm feeling helpless here. Because AI has made it absolutely impossible to be an indie author because there are SO MANY 'authors' generating slop and getting sales. AND there are so many authors using AI for cover art. It's RIDICULOUS how many covers are AI generated.
And even though I am vehemently against AI and don't use it, because it was trained on Ao3, it was trained on my actual writing, which means my em dashes and oxford commas make me LOOK like I'm using AI when I'm not, but people are calling out authors all the time for being AI when they use those things, so it's disheartening. All the while, I'm just trying to write my monster fucker books and make money on royalties because our Electric is always late and about to be turned off and my spouse is getting auto rejected from every job he applies for by an AI program (that every company uses to scan new resumes) and honestly it's looking bleak, guys. It's very very very bleak.
But I'm going to make cookies today, and I am choosing to hold that as a high point right now.

my work has vouchers you can redeem for employee exclusive swag, and I haven't gotten one despite working here for a year. Today I was told they didn't need a breaker, but because I could stock they didn't send me home. Technically not my job but I really need the money. I was the only one stocking all day and helped customers, and didn't get a single voucher. One of the managers that had been telling me what needs stocking all shift dropped one and I joked saying "haha I'd like one of these, I haven't gotten one yet" and he responded "haha you would". Wtf. If I didn't need the money I wouldn't have stayed doing the not-my-job-stocking but damn. I felt like leaving after that. Didn't help that a manager who decided he was bored and went home hours early got the other manager to give him an ace card. (For the audience, no, I can't report this behavior)

Was cleaning my room and I found my old work uniform and this situation pissed me off all over again and I wish these situations were easier to prove and report.
At a previous job, we had little good work badges. Like if you go above and beyond, the manager would recognize that and "reward" you with the little badge of recognition.
I say "reward" because that's all you got- a metal badge. No raise, no promotion, not even the memed pizza party.
I'd been noticing that my coworkers had a lot of those pins. Everyone else had at least one (I had one from a previous manager) but most people had at least 3, some even had 5+. This didn't bother me too much, as I knew my coworkers were all good workers who deserved it.
The problem came when my manager said we needed to get our participation numbers up and specifically said that if we all got customers to participate in the survey on their receipt, we'd get the pins. So I asked every single customer to do the survey when I gave them their receipt, as did all my coworkers. And eventually the survey numbers improved. Yay whoohoo whatever.
But then every single one of my coworkers got at least one pin, some got multiple, except me. There were so many that my manager couldn't hand them out quick enough and put all of the reward pins on the announcement board in the break room.
Every. Single. Fucking coworker got at least one. Except me. I had felt like I was being taken advantage of/not given credit/appreciation that I deserved. Before, I was able to brush it off and make excuses.
But seeing all those recognitions for literally everyone except me really solidified the feeling I had in the back of my mind that I was trying to suppress. That I was just the store scapegoat. The shit cleaner. The one to do all the shit work no one else wants to do and doesn't get treated like part of the team.
Fuck that place. Things might be rough sometimes, but I'm so so glad I don't ever have to go back there again.

Pip had a good weekend at our home club's rally trial. We did a rare back to back Triple Q attempt (only because it was held at our home field--usually I only try a Triple Q once per weekend). We have been having some rough goes of it, with a droopy performance in early May, a very silly performance that included our first Master NQ (and thus a failed triple) two weeks ago, and then squeaking by with some less than stellar scores on Saturday. I have been feeling a bit shaken up by the whole thing. Dog sports have taught me a lot about perseverance that I never really learned growing up, but I'm still not perfect π But today, our second day of triple runs in heat and humidity, Miss Pip pulled off three 99s (!!!), and netted us a fourth place ribbon in Master in a class of 28 dogs! Finally put some points in the RACH bucket again, and two more Triple Qs. 5/20 down!

New rule at work that we all have to wear hi-vis vests while in the building, even before we clock in/on break: annoying but fine, I guess
Work providing said vests: as they should, if it's part of mandatory uniform
Literally all of said vests being a size 'large' even though that doesn't fit over half the team: wtf
Velcro on said vests being exposed because they don't fit or do up: wtf?
Exposed velcro giving me severe friction burn and literally drawing blood by the end of my shift: wtf??
Anyway fuck my boss fr for this one, it's either that you didn't bother thinking this through or that you can't afford to buy vests that actually fit your staff, either way you done fucked up
