Was it a deliberate choice to keep the cologne on him specifically for an opportunity such as this, to give Juno just enough of a hint that he's there without having to reveal himself, say anything, or otherwise admit to his own existence??

I can't decide if the idea makes me want to laugh or cry, but it does put in my head the imagine of Nureyev standing in an empty room and looking down at a little bottle in his hand, considering.
