Childhood memories were often thought with nostalgia, or love, with a bit of sadness from missing those times, but you remembered those times as incredibly dark, and it was all because of her. Your mother.
You were devastated the day she left you, telling you to wait for her in the corner of the townâs plaza, next to the fountain with sculpted angels and seraphine that poured the water in a cascade; and you waited for her. You waitedâŚ. And then you kept waiting, sitting tiredly on the floor observing as people passed by, wishing one of them were your mother.
Then, night took over the day, the beautiful sun that kept you warm during the day was long gone, and she never came back, and the only thing you could do was cry.
You cried, walking anywhere with heavy footsteps, your stomach rumbling and your salty tears blinding your vision, until you arrived at a bakery that seemed to still be open. Suddenly, all you could concentrate on was the freshly baked bread in front of you, so fluffy, still steamy, it was mo-
âHey, are you okay?â someone asked in your direction. You turned to face the stranger, finding a kid a little older looking back at you, he was clearly waiting for a response, one that you felt incapable of giving.
âAh, youâre hungry, right?â the key word caught your attention, and you shyly nodded. The other kid extended his hands, waiting until you took it and then guiding you inside the bakery, right before a woman closed the entrance door.
âMom, can I give them a piece of bread?â the stranger asked the adult. The unknown woman was looking outside the window, you suspected that she was probably waiting for her husband, and without looking, she simply hummed and said âof course, my darling.â
Once the darling kid heard the approval, he hurried to take you where the recently baked bread was, and told you to pick one, whichever you wanted. âB-but I donât have any moneyâŚâ you explained, tears forming in your eyes again as your mind went to the moment when you were left by yourself so many hours ago.
âDonât worry, my grandma and I baked this, and you seemed like you needed help,â you looked away when he said the last part, facing the ground. He tried to change the topic while you ate, savoring the food in your hands. âYou look a lot younger than me, you know? It makes me wonderâŚÂ Where are your parents?âÂ
Right after those words left his mouth, you questioned yourself. All that you knew was the life you had with your mother. What would happen now that you were completely alone?
âIâŚâ You started, clearing your throat to swallow the knot that had formed in your throat. âI donât know my dad and my... My mom left meâŚâ you whispered, wiping the tears that had started falling from your face at the mention of the event of that same day. The kid looked at you in silence for a few seconds, contemplating what to say in his head.
âWell, maybe you can stay with us. Mom always wanted a daughter, Iâm sure she wonât have any problem with letting you stay here,â he smiled. âMy nameâs Seungmin, by the way,â he said, giving you a kind smile. You answered back, introducing yourself and smiling for the first time since you waved goodbye to your mother.
Seungmin left, âI will tell my mom that youâll be staying with us,â he said after promising that he would come back as soon as she gave an answer. It didnât take long for him and his parents to look for you, and welcome you to their cozy little home.
Everything after that happened in a blur; Seungminâs mother and grandmother taught you to bake, sew and a lot of different things that you thought were really helpful. Seungmin taught you how to read as well, and his father tried to teach you numbers, which you really didnât like, but accepted the lessons because you knew they did it to help you.Â
Thatâs how you spent years with the Kim family, they were really united, and their happiness helped you forget about your mother sooner than you had realized.Â
Sometimes, when it was a slow day in the bakery you were allowed to go out and have a walk around the town, but you always went to your hidden place, a beautiful pond far away from where people walked frequently. You always went there when you wanted a moment of peace, and coincidentally, there was almost always a cat that visited and curled up at your feet when it saw you arrive. It was a very curious cat that you ended up naming Honey from how often you and it were together in that place.
On the day of your 20th birthday, Seungminâs parent allowed you to take the day off, and so you happily walked out, book in one hand and freshly baked bread on the other as you went straight to the beautiful pond that had become a place of peace in your heart and mind, and there it was again. Honey the cat waited for you, waving its tail and observing you with its big eyes, paying attention to your every move.
You thought that it was strange at first, the little kitty you used to feel a connection with wasnât behaving as its usual self. Maybe it had an injury, or somethingâŚ?
âHey, Honey, are you okay? You seem a little different,â you spoke to the animal, carefully stepping towards it. Honey just blinked, still staring at you. The continuous eye contact made you feel a little uneasy, but you still advanced towards it, extending one hand to pat its head carefully. The cat, finally reacting, moved away from you, and the next thing happened in a blink of an eye.
Fog appeared from nowhere, and there was the cat used to be before, stood a man, very handsome if you had to add. He had big eyes, with long eyelashes that made his face look so angelic, yet even if he was one of the most gorgeous beings you had seen, his grimacing expression let you know to be careful with your words.Â
The thing was, how were you supposed to be careful with what you say, when you just witnessed a cat youâve known for years transform into a human like yourself? You donât remember screaming just like you donât remember falling to the ground in horror, and of course you also forgot how the human-cat pinned you to the ground with a hand on your mouth.
âShut up, Y/N. Iâm still Honey, calm down,â he shushed you, his voice not like one youâd heard before, but more unique, calmness in his tone as he tried to make you stop screaming.
âY/N, can you stop wiggling under? I have to tell you a lot of important information, please cooperate with me,â he frustratedly said, making you look at him more closely, and right when your eyes met his, you knew that you didnât have to be scared of him. He removed the hand from your lips, and stepped back, sitting on his knees.
âListen, I am your familiar. Your mother sent me to you, to take care of you,â he started talking, but you closed your eyes listening to what he was saying, raising a hand to stop him.
âWait, wait, hold on. Youâre wrong. I donât have any ââfamilyâ, I used to have a mother, but she abandoned me! What are you talking about?â you shouted, hysterical laughter coming from the deepness of your chest. Who was this person, and what did they want?
âI know your mother, and thatâs how I know you too. Sheâs a witch, and you are too. Thatâs the reason why Iâve been with you since she left you.â
âA witch, you say?â you laughed again, this time from incredibility. âThereâs no such thing like witches, dwarves or trolls! Listen, this was a good job, with a lot of production but itâs not funny. Go trick someone else and leave me al-â
âTodayâs your birthday. Youâre turning 20, itâs been 11 years and 9 months since your mother left you. You are living with the Kim family, the ones who own the bakery, and your best friend is Yang Jeongin, from three houses down your street,â he interrupted you, dropping that information, obligating you to listen to what he said. Chills ran down your spine when he finished.
âS-so what?â you stuttered. You cursed your ability to appear calm and collected. âThat only proves that youâre a creep. Just stop, man. Youâre not gonna make me believe that what youâre saying is true,â standing up, you wiped your butt and fixed the wrinkles on your clothes, picked up the book that fell from your hand after your arrival, and then you turned your back to him to leave the pond.
âYour motherâs name is Celest, Celest Termysia,â upon hearing that, you stopped in your tracks and turned to look at him. Your motherâs name⌠while her first name seemed normal, her last name always made people turn to give her a look, you remember the way she hugged you when the two of you went out and people made faces at you.Â
âYou can know that by asking the people here. Everyone knew us, except the Kimâs because they had just arrived. Knowing her name doesnât prove anything,â you reasoned, getting annoyed at his attempts to convince you that he was telling the truth, but he had a triumphant smile on his face that took you by surprise.
âHer last name has a hidden meaning. Thatâs the answer to the situation, itâs an anagram. Termysia, mysteria, she really lived up to her name, being all secretive and-â he stopped, looking at your confused expression. You remember her, your mother, explaining the origin of her last name to you when she was putting you to bed.
âMe and your aunts are named Termysia because thatâs the name our Father chose. 12 mysterious daughters, each with different missions,â the flashback left your head as quick as it had arrived.
âOkay. Iâm starting to trust you more, thereâs no way anyone else besides us knew that. Tell me what you wanted to say, something about taking care of me? please, go on,â you motioned with your hand after you sat down on the floor again, encouraging him to start talking once again.
âYour mother told me to watch over you. She never really left you alone. I've been by your side after that day. She instructed me to reveal myself as your familiar on your 20th birthday, happy birthday, by the way. Thatâs all, Iâm going to be by your side my whole life.â
âYouâre my âfamiliarâ? What does that even mean, what are you supposed to protect me from?â you asked, resting your weight on your arms, hands touching the grass to ground you.
âBeing a familiar means that Iâll be learning and helping you learn about your nature, and to disguise myself Iâll have to transform into an animal. I cannot abandon you, every witch has a familiar, and experienced witches get to choose their daughterâs animal. Your mother paired us, good luck trying to get rid of me,â he laughed, bitterly. That didnât go unnoticed by you, maybe he was on bad terms with your mother.
âAlright, so weâre somehow connected because my mother was a witch and she put⌠I donât know, invisible thread between us or something like that? What am I supposed to do with all this information, huh?â it was the last part that you wanted to know more than anything. Were you supposed to start learning witchcraft, fly in brooms and laugh horribly? That didnât seem like a lifestyle you wanted, especially since thanks to the Kimâs you had planned together a better future, and you were supposed to marry Changbin from the Seo household. Honey looked clueless.
âI guess⌠Look, your mother didnât give me much intructions. Trust yourself, listen to your instincts and magic will come to you naturally,â he said, then he stood up to stretch. âMy real name is Minho, if you want to know,â he said, winking at you at the end. You giggled when you heard his name, earning a raised eyebrow from him.
âMeditate, then try to do simple things like controlling the air, or-â
âYou know what? Maybe we should go on a trip, you and I. I think both of us could benefit if we manage to find my mother. You can tell her to free you from being my familiar, and I can ask her why the hell she left me, what do you think?â you stood up again, this time with determination in your eyes which meant you wouldnât be convinced to stop with that plan.
âDo you know where to find her?â the before cat asked, grinning when he saw you froze and thought about that inconvenience. You cursed at him in your head, because he had a point. The only smart thing you thought of doing was asking back âdo you?â and when he shook his head up and down, you smiled in relief.
âWhen do we leave, then?â he simply asked, standing up himself, shyly stepping forward in your direction.Â
âRight now. Quick. transform into the cat, Iâll go with Seungmin and tell him that I found you and that Iâm going to return you home, okay? please behave like a normal cat,â you pleaded, waiting for the fog to appear and look at Honeyâs familiar, cuter self.
When you arrived home, the only people in there were Seungmin and his mother, to whom you approached, familiar resting in your arms, and you told them you would be leaving in a few days so you could prepare everything for your journey with the cat.
The day arrived, you had a variety of food, appropriate traveling clothes, and comfortable shoes. You were about to leave, after saying goodbye to everyone when Seungminâs mom gave him a bag, and he followed you after you left the house. You thought he was joking, following you around until some point, but he was persistent.Â
You had reached the skirts of the forest when you turned to face him a little annoyed. âWhy are you following me?â you asked, dropping your own bag and crossing your arms over your chest.Â
âMom ordered me to come with you. It is dangerous just for one person to roam like itâs nothing. They want to make sure youâll be back for the engagement with the Seo boy,â he explained, rolling his eyes and indicating to you to keep walking by moving his hands the way you told him you didnât like.
âSo youâre coming with me, as a bodyguard because your mom told you to?â you asked to reassure that you understood him correctly. When he nodded, you rolled your eyes and let a sigh escape your lips, but you turned your back at him, sharing a look with your newly discovered familiar and you quietly started walking again, now completely aware that your friend was following you. The first thought that got to your head after processing the situation was to not let Seungmin see Honey in his human form, you wouldn't like to scare him.
You traveled an entire day, until it got too dark and you told Seungmin that you wanted to rest, and that leaded to you and your companions sitting by a fire, blankets on the comfiest spots of grass you could find with the limited lighting you had, provided by the half moon on the sky.Â
The ground should be enough for a night until you arrive at the next town.
Seungmin told you that he was tired from all the baking he did the day before starting the journey, but luckily he had some extra bread that he offered to you after hearing your stomach grumble in the morning before continuing. You happily took it and ate half, giving the rest to the cat and earning a strange look from your extra companion. You confronted him, asking if there was a problem, and Seungmin sighed, but decided to voice his opinion.
âWhy are you giving it food? I gave it to you, not the cat,â he said.Â
You stopped in your tracks, turning around to look at him dead in the eye. Hon- Minho, in cat form, looked up at you from his place in your arms. He had woken you up after Seungmin fell asleep to try and convince you to keep walking and leave him there, since he complained that he didnât like him, but you told him no and decided to stay. You couldnât believe that Seungmin and him didnât get along at all, even if they didnât know each other. It was too funny to believe.
âWhy? Little Honey hasnât done anything to you, in fact, he doesnât like you either,â you rolled your eyes, shrugging and then turning to keep walking straight in the little path that other foreigners had traced on their way to your town. Seungmin had to run to catch up with you.
âI didnât say I didn't like the cat. I just⌠abhor it. I think Iâve seen it before, also. It seems like a very familiar cat, to be honest,â he commented, sharing a look at the animal in your arms. You tried to laugh, nervously, afraid that he had found out your secret.
âYouâre overthinking things, Y/N. Heâs just worried for the sudden trip, calm down,â the logical part of your brain told you, and just as the anxiety had come, you breathed in and cleared your thoughts, visibly relaxing.
âItâs just a cat, Seungmin. Maybe you saw a different one, come on. We must be near the closest town, letâs keep walking, okay?â Seungmin nodded, ignoring the cat situation and just following you in silence.Â
During the course, you and him started about daily things, such as the people in the town, how the business was going, some books you and him had read recently; all the talking made the arrival at the next town faster, it was almost like time flew, even if the proof were your feet hurting from walking so much. It was the evening when you arrived, both of you hungry and a little tired, but safely in your destination.
âI used to have a lot of friends when we lived here, come on, maybe we can stay with one of them,â Seungmin took your hand, guiding you somewhere in particular. You didnât say anything, just looked down at the cat and both of you followed Seungmin until you reached a house that looked pretty big on the outside.
He knocked on the door two times, and by the third you heard a distant âcoming!â from the inside, which made you and Seungmin share a look, he smiled at you reassuringly, and then the door was open to reveal a young man with a bright smile on his gorgeous face, you couldnât help but blush when you and him shared an initial look.
âHyunjin! Do you remember me? Itâs me, Seungmin, from the bakery,â Seungmin greeted, gaining his friendâs attention. The other man blinked, looking from you and him and quickly turning his confused expression into a smile as the gears in his head worked to remind him about Seungmin.
âOf course! Please, come on in,â he moved to the side to let you both inside, you followed him all the way to a wide living room, where the three of you sat down to chat. âTell me, how have you been, how is your family? Uhm, is this your partner? Nice to meet you, Iâm Hwang Hyunjin,â he directed to you, extending his hand to shake yours. You smiled shyly, introducing yourself as well and looking at Seungmin for help.
âMy family is well, I hope yours is too. This is Y/N, theyâre like⌠a sibling to me, we found them after we moved, and they have stayed with us since then, they are getting married soon, though,â Seungmin explained, laughing a little at the end and giving you a side-eye look, but you simply nodded.
âOh, thatâs great, and may I ask what the two of you are doing in this town?â Hyunjin asked, but the question wasnât directed at Seungmin, which was quite strange to you. The person you had just met seemed⌠suspicious of you. Something in your head made you want to stand up and run, run far from the house, from the town. From Hyunjin.
The first impression you had of him⌠It had been guided by his appearance, he was handsome, he had beautiful skin, hypnotizing eyes and lips that looked so kissable. He was also tall, taller than Seungmin, and way taller than your fiance-to-be, and the clothes he was wearing, a loose white shirt and comfy pants made him look like he was a house husband, you had to admit that you were infatuated by him, but now that you saw the way he looked at you when he made that question⌠It sent chills down your spine, almost as if he knew exactly who you were.Â
âUhm, well I found this cat, and since it doesnât belong to anyone in our town, we thought maybe it got lost, so I wanted to return itâŚâ you explained, stroking the ears of said cat that was resting on your arms. Swung in just nodded at your explanation, continuing to take on the conversation while you excused yourself to take some fresh air.Â
Walking away a little, your familiar transformed into his human form, cautiously walking towards you with concerned eyes. âAre you okay, Y/N?â Minho asked, slowly putting his hands on your arms to hold you as you shook your head. âI feel a little uneasy, can you give me some space?â You asked, placing one hand in your head and not returning his look.Â
âI canât do that, Y/N. IâŚâ he sighed, letting go of you and sitting down on the grass. He took. Deep breath before continuing âI donât like that Hwang dude, heâs not a regular human. He did something to you,â Minho commented, looking at you afraid of missing something regarding your reaction to his reasoning.Â
âDonât worry, itâs just a façade. We wonât be staying the night with him, weâre leaving as soon as we can,â you said, trying to give him your most reassuring smile which came like a painful expression, making Minho make fun of you.Â
Maybe you hung out a lot with him in his cat form, but his presence was more comfortable, you didnât feel as weirded out as when you saw Hyunjin looking straight at you. Simply remembering that gave you chills. You preferred Minhoâs company over his, over Seo Changbin, and even over Kim Seungmin. You felt like Minho could understand you better, and under his tough skin, you knew deep under he had a warm heart.Â
âY/N?â A voice disrupted into the quietness that you and the half cat had fallen into. He quickly transformed, and you turned to look at seungmin walking towards you. âItâs time for dinner, Hyunjin can host us for today, and tomorrow weâll go back home, okay?â You listened, taking the hand he offered you to stand up, and then you walked to his friendâs home.Â
Dinner was awkward, to put it someway. Hyunjin seemed too interested in you, a rainstorm of questions about who you were âwhere you came from, where you lived, who you were friends withâ made you the center of attention.Â
You couldnât take it any longer, so almost done you decided to stand up âI need to bat an eye,â you excused yourself with a poor smile, and then you left towards the room that would be yours for the night.Â
You couldnât wait until midnight to get as further away from there as you could.Â
You laid in the large bed, Minhoâs cat form rested peacefully next to you, purring as you passed your hand through his fur until he opened his eyes and looked at the direction of the door. You stopped, looking at him with hope.Â
The animal stood up, and jumped out the window without wiring for you.Â
You stood up on your toes, afraid of making any noise and waking up the men in the rooms conjuncting with yours, then you joined the familiar outside the window, running as quietly as you could.Â
Waiting for you in human form again, Minho saluted you with a sly smirk which you corresponded, and then you followed him. During the evening, you had been practicing a little bit of magic, succeeding in summoning light in the form of floating orbs, and also making tiny flames of fire come out of your body. Maybe you hadnât realized, but you were way more tired than what you allowed to seem.Â
âJump on my back, Y/N. Youâre too tired, Iâll carry you,â your familiar got your attention. You looked at him, a little stunned until you analyzed what he said.Â
âNo, I don't want you to carry me, you must be tired too. Letâs sleep on the grass, what do you think?â You stopped walking, examining the floor to find a comfy looking spot of fluffy grass. Minho sighed, but he gave in after you bit your lip trying to avoid a yawn.Â
âIf you prefer to sleep in the grass than have me carry you, choose a spot and weâll stay here until the sun comes up, okay?â You nodded, sitting on the grass and then allowing your back to feel the floor. You stretched in pleasure, trying to accommodate yourself.Â
A few minutes passed, your familiar was looking up at the sky with his eyes closed in front of you, and you wondered what he was doing.Â
âIâm trying to find anything that would mean danger to us. You can sleep, Iâll be guarding you,â he reassured you, eyes still closed as he felt your eyes on him. You nodded, hoping that he would hear the noise of your moving head and then turned to sleep a little, curling in a ball because of the wind.Â
After what was probably almost an hour, you heard Minho whispering if you were still awake, and you nodded in annoyment, opening your eyes and facing him. âCanât sleep, too cold,â you explained, hugging yourself. You saw him blush a little before offering to keep you warm himself.Â
You excitedly agreed, because no matter which method he could use with you, you wanted to stop feeling so cold.Â
You watched him lay down, feeling his arms drag you towards him and hug you protectively, his hands slowly drawing figures on your back to help soothe you until you fell asleep as he rambled about all and nothing at the same time.Â
âCan I kiss you, Y/N?â He asked, looking from your eyes to your lips, a tint of pink decorating his handsome face. You nodded, placing your hand on his arm and shifting so he could kiss you better.Â
When his lips connected with you, you couldnât help the smile that appeared on your face. It was a sweet kiss, started innocently but as seconds progressed, passion was born, and quicker than you wanted to admit, the two of you were making out, you under him with heavy breath.Â
âI wanna touch you, can I?â He asked for permission again, kissing you but allowing you time to give your response. A breathy yes, that sounded more like a plea became music to his ears, and he started a trail of kisses down your chin, to your chest, and over your clothes, and just when he was about to lift your shirt, you placed your hand on top of his and with panic in your eyes, you started to say no instead.Â
âWe canât do this, Iâm so sorry, please stop,â you cried out, sitting down and moving away from him. Your partner was annoyed, but more hurt than anything, you could hear the disappointment in his voice when he asked;
âDid I do something wrong? Why do you want to stop now?â
A single tear left your eye, born by guilt.Â
âIâm going to marry Seo Changbin. I canât do this, because I will get married once we go back, his family is very respetaââ
Minho crawled to you and gently pushed you down by your chest, lips centimeters away from yours, and before kissing you more fiercely, he said âfuck Seo Changbin, youâre with me right now,â and with that sense of reason, you hugged his neck with your arms and allowed yourself to this moment of passion.Â
âYou donât even love him, Y/N. Let yourself be loved by me instead, baby,â he kissed your jaw, hands slowly tugging your clothes, and after you nodded, he smiled one more time.Â
âIâll make you mine tonight, Iâll treat you so good youâll forget the name of Seo Changbin and his family,â Minho grinned, and after that, he started undressing you. Your shirt came off first, letting him more skin to kiss, lick and bite as his other hand interĂŠs your underwear and toyed with you, fingertips caressing you and feeling just how wet you were from all the previous making out.Â
You spread your legs for him, balancing your weight in one arm while your free hand rested around his left wrist on the hand that had made its way into your crotch.Â
He rubbed you tentatively at first, waiting to hear your reaction to the vulgar touches on you, enjoying all the noise you made, his fingers felt ungodly great on your sex, but the moment he pressed a specific point, you choked around nothing, wriggling for him as you babbled âdo that again!â Incoherently.Â
You were feeling better and better as he kept touching you, moaning and gasping whenever he did something new until he stopped, and you turned to see him shifting in his place, helping you out of your bottoms and finally letting you completely naked for his pleasure, and then the magic continued.Â
Minho carefully slid a finger inside you, groaning from how tight you felt, using his other hand to play with you. The mix of being touched and full made you roll your eyes, raising your hips to get more of such filthy satisfaction, until a moment when you feel like something had exploded in you and your whole body started to shake, gasping as you allowed yourself to drown in that ecstasy.Â
âAh, Min, I want more, please take me!â You cried out after almost fully recovering from what you supposed was an orgasm.Â
âWell, since youâre asking so nicely,â he started, sitting down on his knees and undoing the zipper of his bottoms, placing himself between your open legs, âguess Iâll make you mine now, huh? Ready?â You nodded, licking your lips and verbally giving him an answer, and you observed him stroke himself, then you felt his tip against you, and slowly he started entering you.Â
You had your hands on his back and shoulders, digging your nails on his skin as he started to pull out and then go back inside you again.
It was almost like an art, you thought, maybe a dance, a dance so explicit that the only capable of enjoying the choreography were just you and him, but at the same time you couldnât really describe what you were feeling.Â
He was enjoying this too, if you could tell from the noises he made, and so you decided that if he indulged in pleasure, you would do the same, meeting him halfway and trying to help reach another orgasm, this time together.Â
You knew that you liked it, you knew that you wanted more, and you knew that you would be going to hell, if there was even one. Why did the pleasurable things have to be so sinful?
Minho treated you carefully, the night time passed rather quickly and sooner than you had expected, the two of you were a naked mess in the very early morning. Minho had kept his promise of making you forget about the cold, and you didnât fall asleep at all, your attention going to somewhere else, focusing on each otherâs bodies and pleasure instead.Â
It had been an eventful night, one that did exactly what was intended for on Minhoâs part: make you forget about your arranged marriage.Â
âYou know, if youâre tired you can sleep on my back,â Minho offered after the two of you were fully dressed and about to continue. There was no way you would decline the offer this time, since you hadnât batted an eye the night before.Â
Thatâs how you followed his instructions, and soon after you were secured on his back dead asleep, your head resting on his shoulder, and your legs around his waist.Â
When you opened your eyes next, you were still in the middle of nowhere, the scenery being of all trees, and a little far, a tiny cabin that seemed older than granny Kim. âHave we arrived?â Your sleepy voice asked, earning a hum from Minho.Â
âYes, this is where your mother chose me as your familiar. She should be here, come on, letâs go see her,â he said, talking to you in such a kind tone of voice that made you feel like a kid again. You didnât want to walk on your own, feeling too comfy on Minhoâs back.Â
You were nearing the front door of the cabin more and more, until you were just a few steps away and Minho grabbed your wrist, stopping you from stepping further.
âNo matter what your mother tells you, you are special, and maybe it wasnât my choice to become your familiar willingly, but growing up with you and getting to know you has been great. Iâm proud of the woman that you are and Iâm impressed by your strength, okay?â You nodded, heart pounding as you heard his every word. âAlright. Letâs talk to your mother,â he said, stepping forward instead, giving you a quick hug and a kiss on your forehead before opening the door himself. You followed him blindly.Â
The inside of the cabin didnât appear as scary as the outside; it kept way more space inside than what you wouldâve imagined just from looking at it from afar. This used to be a home before, with its own kitchen and dining space, but mostly for sleeping, as you saw many beds taking up a quarter of the whole room, then a corner on the other side which you hoped that it was bathroom.Â
Sadly, you didnât have much time to look into the details of the cabin, because after stepping inside, your familiar had adapted a defensive pose, making you peer from his shoulder to take a look right in front of you; right there, sitting on the lead chair of the table rested Hwang Hyunjin, a beautiful woman was sat next to him, apparently asleep since her face was sprawled on the table and no signs of coherence from her.Â
âAh, so my suspicion was correct. You are Celestâs daughter, and youâre looking for answers, correct?â He stood up, placing himself in front of the unconscious lady behind him so you could focus on him instead.Â
You swallowed, holding Minhoâs arm tightly. To say that you were scared was a misunderstanding. You were feeling more than simple fear from the situation, your head started to hurt and tensed from Hyunjinâs mere presence. It was as if your intuition warned you that he was up to no good.Â
âWhat do you want from them?â Minho asked, keeping his protective pose in front of you. Hyunjin smiled evilly, putting his hands together before licking his lips and answering:
âTheir blood.â
âI wonât let you have that, buddy. Whatever you need it for, must be something bad, if you want to see at least one drop of their blood, itâll be over my dead body,â he said, dropping the pose and rolling his sleeves up instead, trying to provoke Hyunjin.Â
âI donât have time to play with you, kitty. Letâs make a deal, witch. You come with me willingly, and I let your mother free, or I kill her and your familiar, and keep you as my pet. Which one will be?â He asked, head tilted to the side as he waited for your immediate answer.Â
Reuniting all the energy you could, and following the steps you had practiced before, you tried to burn him, but all that you managed to show was a quick spark, earning a deep laugh from the taller male.Â
âYou can laugh all you fucking want but Iâm not going with you. All I want is two answers from you; first is, who the fuck are you, and the second is, what have you done to my mother?â You grunted, trying to appear confident in the magic you never knew you were capable of using.Â
âI suggest you answer that, they may seem weak, but their punches are⌠powerful,â Minho added, moving to the side and sitting in one of the beds near the entrance. You found that strange, but decided to ignore it and focus on keeping your mind running to not let yourself fall on his mind games.Â
âDo you honestly, truly think that IââÂ
He was about to keep complaining, but he fell to the floor mid sentence. Minho had jumped into fight mode in front of you again, until he saw the reason for Hyunjin's fall.Â
Right behind, where you couldnât see before because of Hyunjinâs frame, your mother held a pan on her hand, which she had probably used to knock Hyunjin, and when she looked up from the villain on the floor, a beautiful smile adorned her face.Â
âMy darling, Y/N,â she whispered, placing the pan on the table and rushing to hug you. You corresponded that hug happily, tears forming in your eyes as you focused on your mom.Â
âIâve missed you, mother! Why did you leave me all those years ago?â You sobbed, hands holding onto her clothes afraid that she would disappear into thin air.Â
âIâm so sorry, my angel. I had to leave you, you were in too much danger by my side, the family is being hunt, I only wanted to keep you safe,â she explained with a painful expression, remembering that sour day where she disappeared from your life, âbut now you know the truth, thanks to you familiar, and you will become a powerful witch, and you can teach your own coven like me and my sisters did, Y/N.â
âYou will carry the family name to the next generation, and one day youâll have to leave your children too, and once they reach your age, theyâll be ready to accept the magic, much like you are right now,â your mother said, finally ending her monologue. You had your answer, you heard her reason.Â
ââŚunless you wanna go back to the life you had,â Minho added, sitting behind your mom to the side, looking at you.Â
You looked down at your hands, you had your motherâs own hands in you, and you were lying if you said you didnât miss her, but this was a big dilemma. She couldnât leave, and expect you to accept her back without any consequences.Â
âWhat will you do, Y/N?â She asked again, removing one of her hands from yours to caress your back. You closed your eyes trying to decide on an answer.Â
Your life before⌠was really boring. You learned how to bake and do the house chores, you barely had free time, less expect free days, and you were supposed to get married to a stranger that you had only spoken to in one occasion.Â
On the other side, being with your mom meant having your life compromised as a full time witch, and yes, itâd be nice to learn a trick or two that could come in handy, but she had betrayed your trust once, when you were a kid, and that still hurt even after knowing the reason.Â
âI⌠donât want any of those. I want a new life, somewhere else where I can start from zero. I will miss my friends, but I love myself more than to be forced into living in a way I donât want. Please, teach me magic, but after I learn everything, Iâll go somewhere else,â you stated, giving a quick glance to your familiar who smiled approvingly after listening to you.Â
âVery well, child. You can say farewell to the people you know, and when youâre ready Iâll be waiting for you here,â your mother said, opening the cabinâs door with a simple movement of her hand, proving how skilled she was as a witch.Â
âWhat about him?â You asked, signaling to the unconscious man on the floor. Your mother was surprised by your concern.Â
âI will erase his memory. He is a hunter, actually, I will give him poetic skills, so he believes he works as an artist instead of a hunter. No need to worry about him, darling.â
âAâand what about myâ my familiar?â You nervously asked, remembering the promise you made to Minho at first.Â
âWhat about him?â Your mother asked.Â
âHâhow long am I going to live? I told Y/N that since weâre not normal animals, we can live up to our humanâs age,â Minho quickly interrupted. You hoped that this meant he would stay as your familiar.Â
âHe is correct, child. Now, Minho, go with them, make sure thereâs no harm on their way, and Iâll be expecting the two of you here,â your mother said, standing up and giving the two of you a hug.Â
Moment later, you found yourself walking back to where you came from, finding Seungmin having breakfast with a stranger Hyunjin. Curiously enough, your head didnât hurt with his presence this time.Â
âThereâs something important I need to tell you,â you told Seungmin, taking his arm indicating him to come along with you. He followed, attentive to what you had to say.Â
âI found the owner of the cat. Itâs my mother,â you dropped, looking at Seungminâs surprised expression, but leaving the best part for the end, âI wonât be going back with you.â
Your friend stayed quiet, trying to think what to say, you thought , but he smiled, and he gave you a hug too, and finally, he said âwe will miss you, Y/N, please come visit us, youâll always have a home with me, okay? We love you, and we hope that you can be happy with your new life.â
âThank you so much for everything, I wonât forget to visionar you , Minnie. Please say goodbye to your family for me, I need to reunite with mine.â
He nodded, and the rest of the day you spent talking to him with a feeling of nostalgia, but excitement also was a prominent feeling that day. You couldnât wait for the new adventures your mother hadâŚ
Both for you, and your beloved familiar, Minho.Â
