Louis is standing in front of his parents’ home, a place he hasn’t properly been in God knows how long. he wearily approaches the front door, luggage in tow and not quite ready for what’s on the other side. he knocks tentatively, once, twice, three times before he hears footsteps rushing to the opposite side of the door. when it opens, his mother is standing there. they look at each other for a few moments, studying faces that had been taken away from them during the last five years, both with tears brimming in their eyes. they slowly step towards each other, Louis dropping his bags to wrap his arms around his mother. she hugs him so tightly that he almost loses his breath, but he doesn’t say anything for fear of her letting go. “Louis,” she says, “my Louis. I missed you so much.” she whispers the last bit into his hair, and he can barely hear her. He wont reply because he can feel his throat closing up, but he stays in her arms, feeling warmer than he has in years.
