BABY FEVER
Sukufushi
Sukuna doesn’t want kids. He’s said as much when he and Megumi started dating. He thinks they’re a nuisance. Little messy things that shouldn’t be seen or heard. Then one day NobaMai ask them to babysit.
“Date night!” Nobara says, shoving their little bundle of hellfire into Megumi’s hands. “Please! We just need one night! Mai says that you owe her a favor!” Megumi accepts because Megumi Fushiguro is a kind person. Sukuna is not, and has no intention of pretending to be.
He decides that this will be a ‘Megumi Problem’ and completely ignores the crying child, intent on spending his day drinking wine + lounging around. But his eye strays. Megumi’s /good/ with the kid. Unnaturally so. He makes shadow puppets with his hands to make her laugh.
He reads to her, unashamed of the strange voices he uses for each character. The child’s barely a month old; she won’t understand a thing. Sukuna doesn’t have the heart to tell him that.
“Do you want to try?” He doesn’t realize he’s been staring till green eyes bore into his own. Megumi stops rocking the child, holds her out with steady hands. Sukuna’s shake when he accepts her, careful with his sharp nails.
She’s so /fragile/. Megumi made it look easy when he rocked her, humming softly under his breath. Sukuna is not fearful, but he is cautious when she lays her against his shoulder. “You won’t drop her,” Megumi’s voice is a low croon. His expression is fond. “Stay steady.”
He wants to scoff at him- the king of curses has no reason to fear a mortal child- but it might startle her so he holds his tongue. He adjusts his hold. “Good.” Megumi says, and Sukuna glows despite himself.
The girl is /tiny/. His palm alone encompasses half of her. She blinks up at him with Zenin eyes-catlike and cut from the purest jade- and he feels something odd in his chest. “She’d look better with my hair.” He says lowly. Megumi snorts, and that alone is opinion enough.
“...Thought you didn’t want kids.” The tone is light, but there are weeks worth of arguments and debates packed into it. Megumi plucks the child from his hands, coos at her, makes faces. And all he can think of is how she would look if she were /theirs/.
How Megumi would look, exhausted, running on two hours of sleep and divine favor alone, but no less happy as he softly sings another rock song to get them to sleep. “...I wouldn’t mind if it’s ours.” “What?”
Megumi looks at him. Sukuna stares back, a sudden heat in his cheeks. The baby gurgles. He could /swear/ it smirks at him just before an unmistakable smell hits the air. “I said I wouldn’t mind if you did all the work. Call your cousin. I want her spawn out of my house.”
