Wear sturdy shoes that you can walk long distances in (don’t put white laces in combat boots);

Bring a bottle of water and maybe a small snack;

If you have long hair, tie it back and preferably in a bun;

Be wary of cops, no matter what the protest is about. Stay out of their way and be clear and polite if they talk to you;

If you’re meeting up with friends, meet nearby before it starts. You won’t be able to find them once you get there;

Earplugs are great, particularly at big protests/if you have sensitive hearing;

Make your own signs! If you have a rigid sign, think about how you’re going to carry it/store it when the protest is over;

If you want to hang out after the protest, find your nearest park/green space (if you’re not already in one). Loads of protesters will end up there and the atmosphere is usually great;

The closer you get the the front, the more rammed it’s going to be;

Sometimes anti-social, always anti-fascist! 

go to that protest, punch that bigot, do that graffiti, fuck yeah, but this also goes out to the people who arent in a position to do those things

kiss your partner in public, dont let other people define the language you use for yourself, say “im gay/lesbian/bi/trans/etc” out loud even if its just in the mirror, break gender roles, hell!!! just wear those fucking shoes people say are tacky!!! cut holes in your jeans because you think it looks cool even though you’re embarrassed of what other people will think!!!! 

2019 is the year of making some goddamn noise in any way you can because all of it counts

scream your truth live your honesty don’t compromise your sincerity

do it loud do it proud do it! do it! DO IT!

this is the year to own yourself this is the time to be yourself this is where you discover yourself

better or worse, you find your truth you don’t let anyone take it from you
