you taught me how to be tough and strong in the face of enormous pressure when a patients life is on the line and they are quite literally open on the table in front of me. you taught me to be confident in my decisions and if i make a mistake, to own up to it. even if that mistake means getting reprimanded, often times by you. you taught me how to be concise and efficient in how i talk to people that don’t have time or patience to listen to my rambling. you made me who i am. you are the reason i am successful in my career. i wouldn’t be where i am without you. without your oversight, dedication, care, and faith. you were harsh but you were thorough and didn’t sugarcoat. there were no pretty pictures, only stark realities. i learned and developed a thick skin from what others saw as cold. you aren’t cold, you expect greatness. that thick skin got me this far, and it will carry me through. not everyone can handle you, or understand you. they are simply not up to the challenge. you are unapologetically you and that’s why you’re the fucking badass that you are. you’re my role model. you’re the real life cristina yang.
