Y’all make everyone learn English, which is one of the hardest languages in the world to learn, to make your life easier and then have the audacity to to make someone else feel less then because you are too lazy to properly pronounce their name.

This is triggering for me. I do not have a “normal name“ and neither do my siblings, even though my parents have the most Irish Catholic names you’ve ever heard in your life (and yes they are both black).  I have spent an exorbitant amount of my time repeating my name, spelling out my name and correcting peoples pronunciation of my name. It’s unusual but it’s not that complicated. Six letters. Three syllables. Endless headaches…

“Your name is too complicated.“ or “I’m just gonna call you ________ instead, okay?”

Nope. Not today Satan

You can call me by my name or I can call you that motherfucker who is too lazy and/or stupid to learn to pronounce my name properly. I’m not asking you to memorize a fucking haiku; just a basic, bottom level acknowledgment of my humanity, that’s all.

If you can learn to pronounce dead white guys names like Dostoyevsky, Tchaikovsky and Bach, you can put the same effort into learning complicated living peoples names too. Unless of course it wasn’t about the complexity of the words and was only about the person’s complexion…

Digital artist Marina Amaral has been colorizing historic photos for three years and recently updated the last images of a 14-year-old Polish prisoner in Auschwitz.

Originally, the images were taken by Wilhelm Brasse, better known as the “famous photographer of Auschwitz concentration camp.”

“I distinctly remember [the] picture of this particular girl inmate,” he said in an interview. “It’s because she looked so young, so disarmingly girlish.” When she arrived at the camp, she couldn’t understand what was being said to her. “So this woman Kapo (a prisoner overseer) took a stick and beat her about the face. This German woman was just taking out her anger on the girl. Such a beautiful young girl, so innocent. She cried but she could do nothing. Before the photograph was taken, the girl dried her tears and the blood from the cut on her lip. To tell you the truth, I felt as if I was being hit myself but I couldn’t interfere. It would have been fatal for me.”
