You know if we up Yuna Hollanders need for control over her son’s life we could make her put “nanny cams” aka surveillance in Shane’s apartment in Montreal and that’s why he thought he had to buy a whole ass new building to bring Ilya to so they could fuck. Yuna just wants to make sure her son is being safe and responsible, but like to an insane degree. And for the most part Shane is, except when it comes to his situationship from hell turned real relationship.

Anyway, Ilya just never knows about this, so he just full on thinks Shane was making him his dirty little secret by never even letting him step foot into his real apartment once. And like, yes, he is, but also Shane totally would’ve been fine with Ilya being in his apartment if it wasn’t for the fact his mom would see him fucking his rival.

Then at some point after they go over to his parents house after David walks in on them, Yuna does confront Shane if this is why she didn’t see him in his apartment much.

And that’s when Ilya finds out Shane actually avoids his apartment whenever possible and slept over at Hayden’s place as much as he could without thinking he was a burden to Hayden(Hayden doesn’t know about the cameras but does get the vibe that Shane likes staying over but is too uncomfortable to ask and just starts asking him to stay over to help with the kids or a boys night etc. He just thinks Shane is lonely and is more than willing to help w that).

Unrelated and it would not get brought up during this convo, but it’s also why Shane never hosted a team gathering at his place and they use Hayden’s place instead(he used the fact that Hayden’s place is a house w more room as an excuse with a promise to Hayden he’d always help clean up and then it just stuck).

But, this is of course Ilya “mommy issues in a different flavor” Rozanov. He doesn’t find it too concerning that Yuna does this. Honestly he finds it a bit sweet and lowkey wishes he could do it to Shane himself so he can always keep an eye on him and make sure he’s safe when they’re long distance. But he is of course conflicted, Ilya Hoezanov does not want his future mother in law watching him fuck his bf in all the rooms and surfaces in Shane’s apartment in 4K.

So, Ilya “I convinced CCM to do a joint shoot with us” Rozanov compromises with Yuna. She could keep cameras outside the doors of the apartment, but remove the interior ones. Which Yuna eventually agrees when she realizes she’s outnumbered. But if Ilya also takes one of the nanny cams or buys a new one and makes it so only he can see through it somehow? Well, that’s for only Ilya to know, and Shane to maybe find out when Ilya sends slightly too knowing texts. Well, people do tend to fall in love with people similar to their parents, right?

#never doubt an Asian parents urge to monitor their children even when they’re full grown adults #this is a real thing that happened to a guy my sister is friends with #specifically when he was in college which what do you know is roughly the time period Yuna would do it to Shane #dude literally just started sleeping over in other peoples rooms for some fucking privacy #realistically would David put a stop to this? probably #maybe it’s projecting but I just can’t really see him supporting full surveillance of Shane’s apartment #but maybe he’s a bit more of a pushover in this idk #maybe he didn’t know #not super important #ilya rozanov #shane hollander #heated rivalry #hollanov #yuna hollander #I do love her truly and at least in the show she seems to be a good mom albeit a bit controlling #but isn’t it fun to imagine if her enthusiasm and protective nature was dialed up to a solid 8/9?

I have 100,000 followers on here (i know; tumblr power user jmg) and i think it gives me, like, zero social capital? Which I think might be why it's still good.

Like, when my agents are pitching me for something, they'll be like, "Look at his facebook! Look at his tiktok!" They're never gonna say, "100,000 people follow him on tumblr. Remember tumblr?"

But the thing is, I don't actually use facebook or tiktok (except for promo). This is the only place I use, the only place where I'm interested in the community and shared creation and all that shit.

So long live tumblr. Nobody who's gonna hire me to do anything has ever heard of it. It makes for a terrible space to promote your forthcoming book tour. And that's literally why it doesn't suck.
