Multi-Fandom Chaos

I am so confused as to how so many people are confused about the jancy scene being a breakup. To me, it was clear as day, and I sobbed because it was one of the most beautiful breakup scenes I have ever seen. For almost two and a half seasons, we have been shown how these two are not right for each other anymore, how they hide things from each other because they are simply not compatible anymore. Yet, there will always, always be a sense of deep connection and love between them because of their experiences together ('shared trauma'). The scene was a beautiful acknowledgement of why we don't work anymore and a cathartic release of pent-up issues, all the while retaining a bittersweet understanding of their beautiful past. Jonathan and Nancy will always hold love for each other, and they can do that while knowing that they are not right for each other, and it was represented marvellously. Relationships are complex and evolving. Breakups can be mutual and happy and heart-wrenchingly emotional - sometimes in a good way.

So we’re just gonna pretend that t-swizzle didn’t write the entirety of her lover album for Alex and Henry? Really? Ok.

Honestly though, I have never seen a cast so invested in the books and original material they are adapting to screen as much as the Shadow and Bone cast. From Ben Barnes legit showing his tumblr fancast to the producers to get the job, to all the crows knowing the scenes from the books and their characterisation by heart. Kit even mentioned the fan theory about a character called “Jes” being mentioned in Siege and Storm being Jesper before the Six of Crows timeline. All of them have not only done their research, but love the characters and stories they are playing fiercely enough that they want to do justice to the roles they are playing, and it shows damn well. Genuinely could not have asked for a better cast. Props to them and the casting team.

If Kaz Brekker had had access to Red Bull, it would have been over for everyone a lot sooner.

I love how Slytherin won the house cup for years before the Dumbledore’s Great Bias Towards Harry Potter Invasion, and continued to provide steep competition even after. And it’s not like Slytherins did it by being good and rule-following students, it’s pretty common knowledge that they’re the furthest thing from that. They simply managed it by being smart enough to not get caught. They broke the rules, they had their fun. They just did it discreetly and smoothly enough to never gain the attention of authorities, unlike their gryffindor counterparts. Slytherin cunning forever prevails.

The fact that Taylor Swift wrote both “I’m the only one of me, baby that’s the fun of me” and “it’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me” means so much to me. You can be unique and love yourself, and you can also hate your existence. Both can exist in the same moment. It’s okay. It’s human.
