in the beginnig he is this no nonsense, grudgy, bitter guy right in the middle of his divorce who is all work and no fun and has this barrier up against anyone. and then juliet comes in and is just so kind.

but she is not a push over either. in that scene where he says she should keep her opinions to herself and she just smiles and says: "that was a joke, right?" she gives him an out. he doesn't have to be mean, he can take that suggestuon without losing face.

it is such a good way to establish a boundary without making the other person uncomfortable. it was such a great scene and i am surprised i cannot find it here as gifs.

just to have this kind, gracious female character who gets through to this bitter, lonely colleague, being nice without being too nice/weak and showing him that things can be different.

i guess after seeing so many "tough" women in police shows it's just so nice to see her being this kind, caring person, who can make others better people just by leading as an example.

i don't know what i'm trying to say just that i am falling in love again with season 1 juliet and i think she is a great character.
