But! I will still make use of my casts. Faux taxidermy was my backup plan but it almost seems like a waste to have made them flexible for that, I might make one into more what you would expect of a fursuit head. It coincidentally fits pretty well though it is oddly proportioned for that -I’ll see :)

I wasn’t able to sketch or scape away mistakes easily while painting with the glaze, especially with the limited time I had to complete these, so they were winged one bone at a time and when leg angles and proportions got wonky I just rolled with it- overall super happy with how they came out though!!

Ignore the eye angle it’s just jammed in there lol

The eyes have iris mechanisms (like what is inside a camera lens) in the back. Need to remake them a bit smaller, and figure out better materials… hmm

Engraving (I guess that is the best term for this? I scraped off the patina) of the Berlin archaeopteryx specimen I made in one of my classes. The copper plate was unfortunately a little beat up so there’s a few odd lines across it but it’s still pretty neat. April 25’

At around 10 inches front to back and nearly the size of my own head it is definitely pushing the upper end of “life size” and a little crazy for a desk ornament but I loved this project sooo so much! Ceramic ball clay w/t acrylic paints. Carved fall 24’ and finished up a few weeks ago after I got back to campus to pick it up after firing. ALSO it just got accepted into my school art show! It’s not my major so I don’t really know how prestigious that is but I’m happy!
