No wonder they were best fucking friends, with all their bickering and fights, they genuinely loved each other (and still do in 2077!) and were ready to help one another if needed. Johnny straight up tells V that Kerry always got going on, depression and emotions wise and that's why they always got along despite everything.

Which is like, Johnny always had problems, especially after the war and losing his arm, and Kerry saw that and was there for him while no one else was (or managed to get as close to Johnny as Kerry). And he was there before that, too.
