Seeing you cry makes me cry 🥺
Context: the reader is on her period and is having mood swings 🥺
The apartment was quiet, save for the occasional creak of the walls and the hum of the heater. Y/n sighed as she kicked off her shoes and dropped her bag by the door. She’d been in a foul mood all day, but now that she was home, the heavy weight of her emotions was starting to feel unbearable.
Her period was in full swing, and with it came a tidal wave of mood swings and exhaustion. As she moved around the apartment, her chest felt tight, and her throat burned with unshed tears. She didn’t even know why she was upset—nothing had happened. But the sadness was there, looming and insistent.
Satoru wouldn’t be home until much later, she reminded herself. He’d told her this morning he might not be back until midnight, maybe even later if things dragged on. Normally, she was used to his erratic schedule, but tonight, the thought of being alone was too much. She curled up in bed, her blanket pulled up to her chin, hoping the quiet would lull her to sleep.
Instead, the quiet made it worse.
Her thoughts spiraled as the tears began to fall. She sniffled and wiped at her face with the sleeve of her hoodie, but it was no use. The more she cried, the more it felt like she was unraveling for no reason at all. It was overwhelming, frustrating, and completely out of her control.
She didn’t hear the front door open.
“Y/n?” Satoru’s voice carried through the apartment, confusion laced in his tone. “Baby, I’m home!”
Y/n froze, her heart skipping a beat. She wasn’t expecting him for hours. Quickly wiping at her face, she tried to compose herself, but the tears wouldn’t stop. She could hear his footsteps growing closer, and before she could say anything, he appeared in the doorway.
Satoru’s bright blue eyes instantly found hers, his usual playful grin vanishing the moment he saw her red, tear-streaked face. His expression shifted to one of panic, his lips parting in shock. “Baby?” His voice was soft now, full of worry. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Y/n tried to smile, but it came out shaky and weak. “Nothing... I’m fine. Really.”
Satoru dropped his bag by the door and crossed the room in an instant, crouching down beside the bed so he was eye level with her. His hands gently cupped her cheeks, his thumbs brushing away the tears that still fell. “You’re crying,” he whispered, his brows furrowing deeply. “You don’t look fine. Did someone hurt you? Did I do something?”
“No, no!” Y/n shook her head quickly, her voice cracking. “It’s not you. It’s nothing like that.” She let out a shaky breath, trying to explain through her sobs. “I’m just... I’m on my period, and I don’t know why I’m crying. I just feel... sad. That’s all.”
For a moment, Satoru just stared at her, processing her words. His frown softened into something gentler, but the worry in his eyes didn’t fade. “Oh, baby,” he murmured, pulling her into his arms. He sat on the edge of the bed and cradled her against his chest, his chin resting on top of her head. “Why didn’t you call me? You don’t have to go through this alone.”
Y/n sniffled against his chest, her fingers clutching the fabric of his shirt. “I didn’t want to bother you. I know you’ve been busy...”
“Busy?” Satoru pulled back slightly, his expression incredulous. “Y/n, you could’ve called me in the middle of a fight with a cursed spirit, and I would’ve dropped everything for you.” His voice cracked slightly, and she noticed the glassy sheen in his usually sparkling blue eyes.
“Satoru...” she whispered, feeling her chest tighten all over again.
And then it happened—he started crying. A single tear rolled down his cheek, followed by another. His lower lip trembled as he sniffled, and he quickly wiped at his eyes, as if trying to stop the flow. “I’m sorry,” he said softly, his voice thick with emotion. “I just hate seeing you like this. It hurts.”
Y/n’s eyes widened as fresh tears filled her own. “Why are you crying?” she asked, her voice breaking.
“Because you’re crying!” Satoru exclaimed, his pout deepening as he wiped at his cheeks again. “And seeing you cry makes me cry. I can’t help it.”
Her heart clenched at the sight of him, his usually confident and cocky demeanor completely gone, replaced by raw vulnerability. And just like that, her tears started falling harder. “Satoru,” she sobbed, covering her face with her hands. “Don’t cry. If you cry, it’ll just make me cry even more!”
“I can’t stop!” he said, his voice cracking as he pulled her hands away from her face. “You’re upset, and now I’m upset, and I don’t know what to do except hold you.”
Y/n let out a watery laugh through her tears, shaking her head at him. “You’re such an idiot.”
“And you love me for it,” he shot back, his lips quirking into a small, teary smile.
But then Y/n leaned forward, brushing her thumbs gently across his damp cheeks. “Satoru, baby, don’t cry,” she whispered, her voice trembling as she tried to comfort him. “You’re too pretty to cry like this.” She sniffled, cupping his face in her hands. “I hate seeing you like this. It just makes me sadder.”
He blinked down at her, his eyes soft and full of emotion. “But I don’t know how to stop,” he admitted quietly.
“Just breathe,” she said gently, mirroring the way he comforted her. She wiped another tear from his cheek and pressed a soft kiss to his forehead. “We’re both a mess right now, huh?”
Satoru sniffled and nodded, his pout deepening as he finally managed a weak laugh. “Yeah. But at least we’re a mess together.”
Y/n let out a watery laugh, her hands still cradling his face. “Together,” she repeated, leaning into his chest.
He pulled her closer, wrapping his arms around her tightly as he shifted them both on the bed. He laid back against the pillows, tucking her head against his chest. “Just listen to my heartbeat, okay?” he whispered, his voice soothing. “It’s always here for you, baby. Always.”
Y/n sniffled again, her ear pressed against his chest, the steady thump of his heart grounding her. His fingers gently stroked through her hair, and she could feel the tension in her body slowly melting away.
After a few minutes, the tears finally stopped, replaced by a comforting silence. “I’m sorry for being such a mess,” she mumbled against his shirt.
“Don’t apologize,” Satoru said firmly, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “You’re not a mess. You’re human. And you’re my favorite person in the entire world, even when you’re crying on your period.”
She couldn’t help but laugh softly at that, her chest finally feeling lighter. “You’re ridiculous.”
“And you’re beautiful,” he replied without missing a beat, his voice soft and sincere. “Even when you’re all sniffly and puffy-eyed. Especially then.”
She smiled against his chest, the sound of his heartbeat lulling her into a sense of peace she hadn’t felt all day. “Thank you,” she whispered.
“Always, baby,” he murmured, his hands still running through her hair as he held her close. “Now get some rest. I’ll be right here.”
And with that, she let herself drift off, safe in the arms of the man who loved her more than anything else in the world.
