At their 10th graduation anniversary, they meet again. Arthur has been dreading the day they would meet again for a long time, especially now that he's come out himself. His former friends don't know that tho.

Arthur: Merlin, I really am sorry

Merlin: good for you

Arthur: No, I mean it, really!

Merlin: Yeah, I believe it. But that doesn't give me back my childhood. I'm not going to forgive you just because you said sorry once

Arthur: that... of course not. You don't need to forgive me, it's just - you deserved this apology. I was a kid who didn't know better and you deserved better. It's just, my father-

Merlin: Now you just want to look good in front of everyone else here. I look like an arse for not forgiving you, but I couldn't care less. I came here to say 'fuck you', I haven't forgotten! You were a kid? well, so was I! And I didn't chase you around for some made up reason! Not that it wasn't true but you didn't know that yet and neither did I.

Arthur: I-

Merlin: you could have left me alone. You could have minded your own business! I don't care what your father thought about me, you didn't have the right to punch me! And call me names! Why the hell were you so obsessed with me anyway?!

Arthur: ...

Arthur: * blushing *

Arthur: Because you were cute?

Merlin: ... I was what?

Class: ???????

Arthur: yeah, well. That. I was scared

Merlin: wait, you're-

Arthur: yeah. *nervous * Had some tough times because of it... Guess I learned the hard way what I've done to you. But - *hesitates* That doesn't mean you have to forgive me. It still doesn't. I just - I thought if you understood - I don't want to hurt you anymore. And if that memory still does haunt you, then I must apologize. I really, really mean it. And it would do you some good to know that I got what I deserved and ... stuff.

Merlin: ...

Merlin: wow, you really did change, huh?

Arthur: i hope so

Merlin: ... cute you say?

Arthur: shut up, I'm sure you hear that all the time

Merlin: wait wait wait, not so fast. We were talking about kid me, not me me! You still think I'm cute?

Arthur: erm-

Merlin: you think I'm cute!

Arthur: no, no I don't!

Merlin: liar! Here is my number. You owe me several coffees and dinners and I would be a fool not to take the offer

Arthur: but I never offered - *is handed the number* er... yeah. Sure. I'll call you?*flushes*

Merlin: *grins*

Merlin is just chilling doing his job and shi until he goes to the market and Kilgharrah starts talking to him, he sounds REALLY CLOSE

Merlin freaks out a little and then is approached by a old tall man

ITS FREAKING KILGHARRAH

Apparently he wanted to check if he could still change to a human form

When he turned human he forgot how to turn back

But Aithusa (who he also turned human so he could keep an eye on her) DOES remember even though she’s like 6 years old but now she’s gone missing because she got overwhelmed in the market

They get the help of Gaius (bit of tension between him and Kil) and Gwen

After looking for a while Gwen says they should get the knights to help

He finds Arthur with the knights on the training field

THEY HAVE AITHUSA

ARTHURS TRYING TO ADOPT HER

The moment Aithusa sees Merlin and Kilgharrah she starts calling Merlin her dad

Kilgharrah bullshits some stories about being Merlin’s uncle and taking care of Merlin’s daughter

“I thought Gaius was his uncle”

“I’m his fathers brother”

Kilgharrah convinces Merlin to let him stay in Camelot because he likes having such a close eye on him (I’m a part of the Kilgharrah redemption fanclub) and that Aithusa looks happier as a human and can be protected

Merlin can’t really say no because all the knights where arguing over who gets to take care of Aithusa and when

They look really upset when Merlin starts talking about his uncle and daughter leaving

Kilgharrah talks to Geoffrey (in my head canon he knows about everything Merlin does and just doesn’t bother saying anything) and Gaius about having a job

They don’t know how to help

Arthur makes him a royal advisor cuz of his “knowledge and wisdom”

Makes him bring Aithusa to every meeting to make the knights behave

Gauis, Geoffrey and Kilgharrah become THEE old man trio taking care of Merlin

Edit later on because I’m seriously considering actually making a fic cuz I love our silly dragons so much

Arthur asks Merlin why he never spoke about his other uncle and his daughter (this is while Merlin is still trying to force Kil to take Aithusa and leave) Merlin just blurts out that both his “uncle” and his “daughter” have magic and he didn’t want to bring them to a kingdom that would see them dead

Arthur does his angsty thing of “you don’t trust me” and Merlin yells at Arthur that he never understood if Arthur hated or was fine with magic so no he didn’t trust him

Arthur and the knights (except for Lancelot and Percy (hc where Percy knows about Merlin’s magic and had to be told by lance that it’s a secret and no one else can know)) think that Merlin is upset because he hasn’t been able to raise his daughter because of her magic

Percy, lance and Kil know that he’s upset because he’s been forced to be cautious with his magic and lie about the biggest part of his life

Arthur accidentally reveals that he doesn’t care about the magic part of Aithusa’s existence he’s upset because he thinks Merlin is married

Merlin asks why he’s upset about it

Arthur runs off

Gwen (who’s been there the whole time) tells Merlin that the reason Arthur stopped courting her is because he realised that he’s in love with him

I’ve already written out the plan for each chapter

I plan on finishing two or three before i actually start posting them up on ao3 so i can release them as i make more (maybe like one a week if we are lucky)
