Okay so this is being used in a future fic of mine but I NEED to post this fic concept because I don’t see it enough
Merlin noticed Arthur acting strangely and comes to the conclusion that he has been enchanted by a visiting noble woman to fall in love with her
He and Gaius (and anyone else you wanna include) go on a hunt desperately trying to find the cure for the enchantment only to go nowhere
Arthur tells Merlin that he is going to beg his father to let him court his love/darling/any sort of endearment
The people who were trying to find the cure are devastated and worried only to find out that Arthur wasn’t enchanted and was begging his father to let him court MERLIN
They are told by Arthur that he had help the noble lady tell her maid that she was in love with her and her father except them for their love, this gave him the confidence he needed to confess his own love
This can either end angsty with Uther not excepting it and crazy stuff happening or with Uther being not that bad of a guy and just being happy for his son (or just not wanting to be out-dad’ed by the noble man)
