The second attempt? In vain he frowns,

The third time, it flips – with its butter side down,

John sighs, stifling his laughter's sound.

"Clearly", Sherlock states, "The toaster holds a grudge",

"Precisely –", John teases, "you do love to judge".

He narrows his gaze, a smirk so unabashed,

Then grabs John's face, kissing him with a smack.

Rosie hiccups, a squeak quite teensy

Sending John and Sherlock into a frenzy.

"Hold her upright!", John says with care,

Sherlock's got theories, wild and and rare.

A spoon of sugar? Water? A jumpscare?

They try it all in the dim lamp's glare.

But her giggles ring as her hiccups stay

Outwitting two minds at the end of the day.

Starting this year with a poem. Thanks to @chriscalledmesweetie' Johnlock January prompts!

First post on this blog that is not about Sherlock.

But I can sense a new hyperfixation kicking in.

My Dad made me watch a few episodes of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot (1989) and now I can only think of Sir David Suchet's unique accent and his distinctive way of walking.

I vaguely remember watching it when I was ten or eleven years old but I could barely understand anything back then.

And here's another thing. I'm sort of realising this while I'm typing this but, 2024 has sort of reinstilled my love for sleuths all over again.

It started with Benoit Blanc, working its way through Sir Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Hercule Poirot, that crack youtube channel making me fall for Sherlock for a second time in eight years and the most recent one being the Belgian detective, again.

I hope I carry my reignited fascination with detectives and the world of mystery into the new year as well.

I just cannot fathom any circumstance or a universe where John would brutally hit Sherlock.

Why the heck would he do that?

Also, everything about Eurus – I still don't know how to opine on that.

The only part of S4 that exists in my head is Sherlock and John live happily with Rosie. That's it.
