My issues with Sherlock are no longer there, idk what was goin with his character in that first episode (3rd season) but i was SCARED the writers would keep him that way, thankfully they did not.

âJohn,â Mrs. Hudson interrupted my panicked ranting, âyou do know you can like girls and boys at the same time.â
I stop pacing, âWhat?â
âYou don't have to just like one or the other, John, you can-â
I feel the blood drain from my face. Stupid, how could I have been so stupid. âOh my god. What have I-â I run to Mrs. Hudson and give her a short squeeze, âThank you, I need to..â
âGo,â she says with a sparkle in her eye.

âSherlock! Damn you-Sherlock, where are you?â I duck in and out of rooms in our small apartment.
Something crashes, then Sherlock walks out from who-knows-where with two pairs of goggles on his head. One on his eyes, one on his forehead. I would have laughed if I wasn't mid-panic. He gives a nod to me as he casually walks past. I notice the book he's reading is upside down, but I don't really notice until later.
âSherlock, I don't know how to-â I clear my throat, âI guess what I'm trying to sayâŠdamn it,â I look away, clearing my throat again.
âJohn,â I see Sherlock squint out of the corner of my eye, removing his goggles, âyou're acting strangeâŠstranger than usual, that isâŠâ
âYes I'm acting-oh fuck it.â I cross the room in three strides and grab his collar.
âJohn, what are you-â I don't let him finish and his book topples to the floor as I smash my lips onto his.
He freezes.
Then I let go and back away. I look anywhere, anywhere but him.
âWhat the hell did I just- oh God I'm so sorry-I'm going to-â I turn and grab the knob.
TWANG
A knife impales itself not even 6 centimeters from my face.
âNo.â
I spin back around, âNo?! You almost took my bloody eye-...did you say no?â
âYes,â Sherlock stops and shakes his head, âNo, I mean I said no, but yes I did say no.â
I squint quizzically, âBut you did say-â
âI said no. Then I threw theâŠâ Sherlock swallows hard and waves a hand at the knife.
âYes, I can bloody well see that.â
Sherlock strides over, walking over the paper covered table to do so. He comes quite close, and stops.
âWhat are you-â
He shushes me and squints his eyes, âYou're actually in love with-â
This time I cut him off, âYes.â
âBut-â
âYesâ
âEven after I've-â
âYupâ
âAndâŠâ
I nod. âAnd it only took meâŠyears to figure it out.â
âBut you actuallyâŠâ
âYes, Sherlock! I am in bloody love with-â
He takes in a sharp breath. We both freeze.
âAnd you are tooâŠâ
âHow do you know I'm not faking it?â He snaps quietly.
I look down and suddenly bring a hand up to scrub at my eyes.
A hand closes around my wrist.
âYou're going to damage your eyes,â He says matter-of-factly.
I look into his eyes.
âThat's how I know.â
â...I faked it with Janine, John, how do you know I'm not just using you?â Sherlock walks over to sit and stare through his microscope at a slide that isn't there.
âWould you like a slide for your microscope, Sherlock?â I say leaning over his shoulder with one of the glass rectangles in hand.
He puts his hand out without saying a word.
I decide that I've already begun to dig this hole and I might as well keep digging and I lean closer, close enough for my breath to hit his neck- âCan I look?â
Sherlock shoots up, stumbling and tripping out of his seat. I smile at him and follow him into the sitting room, âWould you like any more evidence of how I know, Sherlock?â
He glances around, looking everywhere but at me, âThat was, I- um hm-â he grunts and finally connects with my eyes, âYou kissed me.â
I laugh and it's my turn to look away, âI didâŠâ the smile slowly slides off my face, âthat wasnât- uhâŠwasn't a mistake, was it?â
Sherlock walks back over to me. Without speaking, he gently places a hand on the side of my jaw, around my neck. Then he lowers his face to mine and places a careful, soft kiss on my lips.
He slides his other hand around the other side of my head. He looks deep into my eyes, âIt wasn't a mistake at all, John.â
Mirroring him, I reach up and put my hands on his face, âYou and your cheekbones,â I giggle, âI kissed Sherlock Holmes.â
Sherlock goes very straight faced and I give him a questioning look.
A smile breaks onto his face, âYou are kissing Sherlock Holmes-â
âYou are incorrect, John.â
âWhat?â
âAhhh-â
â-big difference.â
I laugh again, âI bet.â I drop my hands to his collar and pull him back down to me.

I grasp Sherlockâs elbows, not his hands, which I watch startle and then settle. In the millisecond before I open my mouth to speak, a hundred memories push in to stop time.
His hands on his violin, on the bow. His calluses, known by touch and by heart.
His hand cuffed to mine in the most terrifying chase of our whole, terror-rich career.
His hands gripping mine when we strain and thrust to melt the boundary between us.
His hands newly scoured by some caustic chemical or other, the small wounds a matter of indifference to him but not to me.
His hands, dexterous as a magicianâs (illusionist, John, heâd say impatiently, magic isnât real), quick and precise as a surgeonâs.
His hands, the unseeing version of those mercurial eyes: both are like no one elseâs, hungry for data that they can shuttle to the sense-making organ faster than most people can even register its presence.
