Alexa is really one of the most underrated human characters in the Transformers fandom, and we're ready for this conversation.

Apart from the fact that she is a bright and very brave girl who has managed to find a common language with the characters in all the groups within the series, the jewel of this girl lies in the fact that the series constantly proves her importance and the importance of her connection with others, without saying it out loud. All this is shown by actions.

From the very first minutes, we learn about her that she is quite a serious skeptic, easily annoyed, and in general it is difficult to call her "cute"; Alexa is straightforward and stubborn, devotes a lot of energy to her studies and almost does not know how to have fun. She gives up adventures with friends in favor of studying and, even while at home, continues to work. However, immediately after that, we are shown the following: as soon as an earthquake strikes, she takes off in the direction of the mountain, where Red and Carlos went, because she knows that her friends are at the epicenter. She knows it's dangerous there, but she goes there anyway.

Alexa is the first to understand what happens when giant robots appear on the horizon, and that their target is Willy (and in the Japanese version of the series, Alexa is the one who gives Willy his name), and PROTECTS Micron in case of danger.

I must say that she protects everyone on an ongoing basis. For all her grumpiness, Alexa remains the most responsible person at the Cybertronian base, and tries in every possible way to support both each team member individually and the security of the entire base.

She constantly reminds to stay vigilant,

...stops boys when they get too carried away with the game,

...rescues them from their troubles,

and reminds them that they are just children, and that they are not invulnerable.

Alexa is a very smart girl. Both in the context of the situation and emotionally. Red and Carlos also note this, and later the Autobot team, and, confirming this, the series constantly shows that she works a lot with Ratchet (Red Alert in English), thinks about tactics, and digs into the computer.

Look. The blueprints of the base are turned towards it. She directs and works with OPTIMUS' RIGHT-HAND MAN. Her opinion is valuable. She is constantly learning and knows more about working inside the base than any other person and some transformers.

Alexa takes care of the whole team. For real. In the very first episodes, we see how the boys jokingly call her "mama."

...which, in general, is not far from the truth, she chastises boys like children whenever they do stupid things:

She takes care of the supply of food, supplies and basic items.

Alexa worries about masking the microns when she takes them with her. Returning to the carnival series, the boys did not use disguises and relied entirely on the fact that a robotics festival was taking place in the city, and if some creepy adult man caught a micron, it could be a terrible disaster. Meanwhile, Alexa even found clothes for Arcee. She couldn't help but take it with her, as shopping is definitely difficult, because it takes into account the needs of five people, and therefore did everything she could to avoid attracting attention.

She'll do it again later for microns of the Requiem Blaster:

As an analyst, Alexa constantly worries about the safety of the ENTIRE team, and it doesn't matter if it's a micron, a human, or a destron-defector. Everything is very simple here - she is almost always the FIRST to notice when something is definitely going wrong. Starting from small premonitions and ending with the fact that she is the first to understand how Sideways illusions work, the first to notice him at all and realize that he is strange (and does not interfere on someone's side), the first to notice that someone has disappeared /lagged behind the group. I can attach a lot of screenshots here, but it's easier to review episodes 15, 19, and 24 and watch her speak carefully. But! I'll still attach one of the most important scenes.

This is literally Sideway's first appearance on the series, and she's already drawing frighteningly correct conclusions. And it will happen many times.

No wonder Lazerbik recognized her as the hostess, even though Prime had originally given it to Red, right?

She often chastises team members for one reason or another, but she always has a rationale. The main thing is security. And this is noted quite often – Alexa's opinion is considered valuable. And we also have this funny thing.

...Alexa reads others even before she gets to know them. In general, Alexa interacts more easily with the younger half of the Autobots. An exception? Ratchet. But he's their shared dad, let's just accept that?..

The reason she was able to find a common language with Starkrim is precisely because of her ability to understand things correctly, as well as their psychological similarity. IMPORTANT: this is best revealed in the Japanese version of the series, because the official translation omitted up to 80% of all important dialogues, which is why we have some discrepancies, but in this post I use the translation from saints Karuyudo, who translated the series to a version closer to the original (thank God).

So, this is most clearly seen in three key scenes.:

a) the beginning of the 36th episode. Alexa, ignoring her self-preservation instinct, watches a somewhat enraged Starscream, and all the while tries to figure out what's on his mind. Without immediately noticing her, he asks the microns to be quieter, which scares them (and Red and Carlos), but Alexa stays put, knowing that no one will harm her.

She's worried about his condition, she's trying to figure it out, and it doesn't come out of nowhere–it's been that way the WHOLE series. She ALWAYS worries about everyone, and Starscream is part of the team, so it's about him. And he notices it! But he doesn't realize it right away. This situation did not appear in his memories in episodes 36-40, but surfaced for a moment in episode 48. He remembered that moment.

b) Episode 47, the scene where the two of them flew through the maze inside Unicron, after the girl saved her Marsian pebble (not without help). Many people actually misunderstood this point, just like I did on the first viewing.

Look, a pebble from Mars is not only a cute detail in their interaction, but also a direct symbol of the path they have traveled. Starscream admitted that he was not indifferent to the fate of the Earth and specific people in particular, but it was a confused and uncertain decision. Alexa processed this stone, cleaned it from dust and dirt, sanded it and enclosed it in a frame. She was the one who supported this decision of his, was the one who proved to him that he was needed and that he was expected, was the one who always stayed behind. Alexa has not changed the shape or size of the stone. She just pulled something beautiful and shining out of the Martian ("alien" and alien to its kind) dust.

And now back to the scene: in fact, this is their first normal meeting since they found themselves on opposite sides of the barricade due to a series of stupidities. Starscream is considered a traitor, and no one fully believes him (which is not entirely fair, because it was he who REPEATEDLY saved them alone, but that's another story), and tension remained between them until that moment: Starscream does not understand her reaction. She stayed with him, with the most dangerous face of the group besides Unicron, but she acts as if nothing had happened.

And then she rushes after a pebble, as if her life depended on it.

And then she explains what kind of stone it is.

And everything falls into place.

She rushed to save her amulet, knowing full well that her back would be covered (confirmation of trust), knowing that she would not be abandoned, and she pulled out the thing that he had originally given her. Literally, it was "I value the thing you gave me" => "we're still friends."

It was necessary to confirm, without saying it out loud, that she was sincerely on his side. Starscream reacts badly to words, but notices actions. Alexa knows that.

c) finally, the third and saddest part is their last conversation.

This is a confused apology, a farewell, and a thank-you.

First of all, he SAID "thank you." It literally parallels one of their first interactions.

Secondly, he still has a problem: he needs to go back and finish the job. And, apparently, it was already a rather radical, but not yet formed decision here (spoiler: at first he TRIES to avoid it and tries to talk to Megatron, but Megatron is the same as himself. He doesn't understand speech. He needs to PROVE it by action), because in response to the offer to stay safe with the Autobots, he refuses, in order, quote, "not to betray."

After all, if he promises that everything will be fine and stays, and then disobeys the Autobots' plans for him (which has already happened) and - spoiler alert - deliberately dies, it will be a direct betrayal. Again. In simple terms, he just doesn't want to hurt her. And himself, too. The longer he stays among them, where he really wants to stay, the harder it will be to leave. And he needs to leave. 

Alexa is not a fool. She understands that he is planning some kind of madness again, and that is why she suggested a safe path, probably knowing that he would no longer agree. And when got rejected, she just exhaled and said this.

"I will always believe in you."

Well. You know.

"No matter what you do, I'm on your side."

The reason why the confirmation of his death shocks her so much? She had already guessed. For the entire second half of episode 48, she followed the battlefield, where we saw almost everyone except Megatron, Optimus, and Starscream. And it bothers her, she doesn't let go of the pebble and worries. Why are there Sandstorm and Ironhide on the field, but no Starscream?

And then. Well. Optimus, wounded but alive, and Micron, left without a partner, come aboard.

In episode 5, Alexa says:

After the events of "The Legend of the Microns", Alexa goes completely into work, and in "Superlink" she becomes very calm, quiet and loses most of her confidence. If maintaining peace between humans and transformers against the background of a bunch of conflicts can be called a kind of "fix," then, technically speaking, she predicted her own fate.

Overall, Alexa and Starscream really look like each other. Both are young (which, again, is felt precisely on the Japanese version), both are stubborn, smart, both know their worth. Both are the first to notice the oddities, both "take care" of the team (yes, this also applies to Starscream, he constantly looks out for his own and repeatedly saves from troubles, and I can describe it if someone is interested in it), both warn about the risks.

For example, two scenes with approximately the same meaning are a warning of a problem.

The only difference is that Alexa is surrounded by really kids, while Starscream is surrounded by much more rigid foreheads that cannot be explained that the problem really exists. In any case, the result is the same – both of them are almost not listened to, and are not taken seriously.

They even have a similar humor. It's almost always sarcasm with a touch of menace, which looks intimidating, especially when they're right.

The only difference is that Alexa is surrounded by really kids, while Starscream is surrounded by much more rigid foreheads that cannot be explained that the problem really exists. In any case, the result is the same – both of them are almost not listened to, and are not taken seriously.

They even have a similar humor. It's almost always sarcasm with a touch of menace, which looks intimidating, especially when they're right.

  There is nothing strange in the fact that a girl who holds a whole base in check ("yes, princess") will find a common language with destron, who is mentally about sixteen years old. There is nothing strange in the fact that destron, who has always respected in return, and warmly treats microns, will be able to open up to a slightly crazy little human.

 This is not something unexpected or irrational, just as there is nothing surprising in the fact that even autobots like Hot Rod or Ratchet interact with people rather uncertainly in the same 46/47 episodes, while the distrustful DESTRON is the FIRST to calmly offer a safe shelter on his shoulders. 

He knows how to interact carefully enough so as not to harm, he knows what speed to follow (and I remind you, in episode 46, during his escapes from Unicron, he could simply transform and escape), because he literally constantly interacts with the microns.

The sweetest thing is that the two of them will be connected, the series gently hints strongly in advance.

In episode 32, in parallel with the main events, the boys lure Alexa into a computer game, and everything would be fine, but that's just ... a fighting game. Robots are fighting against each other. A robot tank against... a blue plane controlled by Alexa's hands. She was leading him.

...and, remarkably, she won. The blue plane defeated the tank. This is literally a small omen, because, in fact, it will be, and part of the reason is because of her.

But we've seen it all since episode 27! Already here, the "blue plane" was displayed in the opening just from Alexa's side with a pendant in her hands:

.....and there was another weak clue. In episode 24.

Sideways (as a representative of Unicron) tried to intimidate children here. But at a certain point, Sideways showed them several illusions, among which was the ship of the destronrs, which we will see only a dozen episodes later, as well as ... an airplane that does not look like a Strato. An airplane with a red sheen with a blue outline. Why would Unicron suddenly show them the image of the already famous destron here? The answer is the future. Sad future.

Little hints were scattered here and there, and you can see them just by watching the series again. Considering that the "Legend of the Microns" exists in a time loop, this is even logical, because a very large percentage of events here really only become clear upon revision.

At the same time, the story leads to their interactions gently and reasonably, and it is possible to trace the parallels between them and how similar they are in advance. The jewel of these two's interaction lies precisely in its naturalness. They talk quite calmly, there is no aggression or anger, quite the contrary – the basis here is gratitude, which flows through each of their scenes.

And it resonates in both. Alexa sincerely believed in him and supported him – he remembered it, accepted it and did everything to save not only her planet, but also her. And it remained the same from episode 34 to the very end.
