the boy who wailed at the witches place, then the wolfkiller who did the impossible, a sort of fairytale figure, at the same time a fool trying to grasp at the idea of goodness, we left for paris when you decided and you can achieve anything you can achieve greatness whatever you want it's yours & and then finally the contempt when he sees lestat as a vampire and decides that he's being selfish and cruel by withholding the gift. lestat is either the idol or the fool or the monster. he can't understand the feeling of failure because in nicki's eyes he just always succedes, almost like magic, like it doesn't cost anything, almost like he can't even appreciate what's been given to him (vampirism). stupid for rejecting it like nicki always knew he was stupid; naive and lucky, it doesn't matter the circumstances. it's like nicki operates either on this glorified vision of not just lestat but his life too or on mocking his actual sense of self and the world, coddling it when it becomes uncomfortable to withstand the hysteria
and it brings me back to louis who for all intents and purposes should've seen lestat as a mystical creature because lestat started showing off his unexplainable "tricks" at the very second meeting, but instead what he really marveled at was just. lestat as a man. someone louis surprisingly for himself just wanted to and could talk to with honesty and vulnerability. not even the timestopping and mind reading were the most interesting part, but his actual personality and the draw it had on louis. idkkkkkkkk man.
louis sees the human even though he's from the very start presented with supernatural & nicki sees a distorted blessed mirage of a man even though he knows the human, even when lestat IS still just a human
