In The Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Demeter herself takes Demophoon from the hearth and places him on the ground when Metaneira interrupts the ritual, which implies that this magic could only be worked in secret. It says nothing about the child dying. However, some scholars argue that the hymn-poet clearly alludes to his approaching death by using the word aspaironta for when he is left gasping on the floor, a word used elsewhere of dying heroes. In other versions of the story, the child is immediately burnt up in the fire when the ritual is interrupted (Apollodorus Bibliotheca 1.5.1 and Orphic frag. 49, 100ff). In Hyginus Fabulae it is the father, here named Eleusinius, who interrupts the ritual. He was killed by the angry goddess, but the child (who here is Triptolemus) was honored by Demeter and was given her chariot with flying serpents to spread the cultivation of grain to rest of humanity.

This was one of the hardest pages in part 2 to draw, because I really didn't want Demophoon to die. But at the same time I realized that his death was necessary to push Demeter into putting her second plan into action.

Dumb question, but I was curious as to how collabs across webcomics are hosted and also how I might get around to perhaps maybe participating in one?

I'm a noob handling a bigger readership than I expected and I'm afraid I know approximately nothing about this kind of thing :,) and other cool things webcomic creators should probably know :,,)

Congrats on putting your own comic out there :D Collabs are generally done by meeting other creators and agreeing on a theme and then you each draw your own piece and at the end assemble it as an episode. I think the fastest way to meet other creators to collaborate would be to join the official canvas discord server and take it from there.

There is only one or two scenes left and then part 2 is complete (minus the editing, of course). However, I haven't fully written down those scenes yet, so the next page might take a little longer than usual. Especially since I'm going to the Stockholm International Comics Festival this weekend.

I hope this is OK to ask lol but looking at ur art sometimes makes me wonder if u were/ are a Snamoine shipper (might of course just be a coincidence). Ellis and the docs design do remind me a lot of them.

Hello! I was never a shipper of any pairings in Harry Potter XD while I did read the books, I was not a huge fan of it. Blood Stain was visually inspired by a picture my husband once drew for me when I was down in the dumps, based on a song by a German band Helloween called Dr. Stein.

It inspired me so much that I started making silly strips about these characters (as one does LOL) and 12 years later...the comic is now on it's 5th volume Vlad's visuals was further refined by an inspiration of a a mix of scientists in old video games like Citan from Xenogears, Hojo from Final fantasy, Lezard Valeth from Valkyrie Profile etc.

First version of Elly was drawn with a much much darker hair but I did not vibe with that color so I changed it to more auburn/ ligther brown and paired up with teals for a nice contrast.

Also the first versions of these concepts were very dark thematically, but a month in the characters refused to be put in such serious storyline so I embraced their goofyness

Serge was visually based on one of my ingame friends, who was a chef and used to dye his hair orange. unfortunate that the trio ended looking like a Harry Potter trio in the end. but... here we are lol The idea of a giant house, was partially inspired with the idea of a Frankenstein (obviously) but visually I was inspired by Resident Evil 1 mansion and the idea of elly exploring and rediscovering new things about the place, and bit by bit about Vlad. Clearly the premise developed further from that, but it was a fun starting point. anyways... TLDR Blood Stain is a huge mix of old millenial inspiration XD

with fine print book 3 being 2 days away from release in the comic stores, i turn to blocking out concepts and designworks for book 4 onwards. work on 4 starts in 3 months from now as soon as death vigil 2 is completed. busy year as i'm also finishing letters to the vampire queen book 1 in may.
