It's been an eventful week in the life of Katie. It ended today with a conference that reminded me how much I love what I'm studying, and where I am in my life, and what I have to do to continue on this track. At this conference I heard a particularly resonant speech about the cost of neglecting one's well-being. All I could think about was the way I denounce social media and yet have put off far too many essays and assignments compulsively refreshing my dashboard despite its static. (I also deleted Candy Crush. #nuffsaid)

When I started tumbling a year and a half ago, it was because I needed an outlet. I was at a pretty darn lonely point in my life and looking at pictures of gay superheroes made me feel alive again. I don't need any of that anymore. I did at the time, but things always change.

I'm not going to delete my blog (for selfish reasons including trying to impress my future grandkids), but I will no longer be checking tumblr. I'll stay on until midnight or so just so I get one last chance to relive Cap 2 through endless gifs. It's fitting--I started this blog in part because of Captain America, and now I'm ending it with Cap 2.

To the friends I've met here, it's been great. I'll miss you guys. To the friends I have here as well as the real world--I see you all the time anyway so this isn't as big of a deal. But still. You rock.
