For the last three weeks, I’ve been lethargic and lazy doing my job as a freelance writer. Unlike other writers, my task is very easy since I just do summaries of service descriptions. However, since the task is repetitive, it can be very tiring sometimes, that you don’t even want to start doing it.
The company has a weekly quota that we have to hit, or else we’ll get a very low rate for each summary written. Mine is 400. In January, I consistently wrote more than 500 and above (even 1000 for a week) summaries, and for the last three weeks, I just consistently hit the quota, which means that I didn’t get any incentive. :(
For the last three weeks, I’ve been blaming the reshuffling of the team members and I constantly tell myself that: 1. Had I not been transferred to another team, I’d be more productive. 2.If my team leader was Jenny, I’d be motivated to write. 3.Had I not been under my new team, I’d be more competitive, because I’d still get a daily dose of inspiration from the team stats… the list goes on.
In order to motivate myself, I subscribed to various websites providing “Quote of the Day”. This morning, I found a video link on my Inbox, which led me to this book (the video, however, was really not a promotional material, the book was just cited, needless to say).
Anyway, I wasn’t even through reading the whole book, I just finished the preliminaries, but I already found enough drive to work for the night.
