watched BOANE. I really, truly adore every part of the movie ever since the second half. I don’t exactly relate to Pokke as a character, but her struggle still strikes me with that pain of giving up. In entirely different circumstances, Tachyon gave up too. Perhaps that’s why seeing Pokke regain her spark was so impactful to Tachyon. They had both reached rock bottom, and Pokke decided - “I’m going anyway.” that simple, action is what changed Tachyon and urged her to keep going, because of that innate connection. And there is no way I can properly describe it. I feel like this movie changed me. I watched it at a rough patch in my life, and because I’ve always seen myself in Tachyon- I saw myself in what she was going through. I saw myself give up and isolate and watch everyone else with a smile. I saw myself laughing and talking smoothly with others while dodging the elephant in the room. I saw the trash build up in my room. I saw the light dim. And I saw myself get up again. Maybe it’s silly to have a game like this impact me so much. But the way it’s affected me and brought me happiness is still undeniable. Reaching into my heart with the characters, getting me hooked for countless nights. Helping my friends and then cheering them on when they finally win that last race. Giving me something to find comfort in. Whether I just want a familiar distraction to play, or I want to dive into complex themes and dynamics. There’s really something special about this franchise to me. I feel I will love it for a long time. Also: Yuri!!
