(Based on an AU they get sent to a government-built town with carriers. So it's all pretty much normal, except for the military checking their every move. So, no zombies!!)
"Ro, when will it stop?" He asked.
His upper half lay on Rochelle's lap, head tucked to her arm. The couch allowed her to sink into it a bit, letting the boy settle down into her more easily without his body contorting weird. The blanket was an added bonus to his misery.
"Will what stop?" She hummed. Her bracelets gently clinked together as her left hand moved up to smooth his hair back. It helped for nights like these, when he feels like thisβwhen her baby can't sleep because he feels so icky.
When he felt a kiss on his forehead, he couldn't help the little smile that cracked the corners of his lips. Ro made everything better. He didn't realize he didn't respond to her, not like she reminded him either. She didn't need to.
That smile disappeared as soon as that twisting feeling in his gut came back. Cramps. He whined, resentful of every moment leading up to this point. Why did he have to be a girl? He wasn't even a boy. Just fake and stupid andβ
"Shh, baby boy. I know it hurts," She cooed gently. Her hand moved from his head to tuck the blankets closer into his body, keeping the warmth in one spot it moved back to start the movements back up.
"You know, you're a very stong boyβ"
Those words made a world of a difference. How she always knew to say things like that, he never could figure out. Yet, she read him like clockwork, knowing each word to shut his brain up for a little bit.
Her hand never ceased its movement. She kept him close, just the way he liked. No space in between, just the two cuddled together. The little one liked being close, always had. The soft, encouraging words continued, "βBecause you came to Mama when you needed her. I think that takes some courage, don't you think baby?"
"Mm..." He murmured, not doing much else to respond. He went quiet, never really liking to talk regardless of headspace, but right now? His mind felt so hazy and gross and just... bleh. He didn't want to take a pill. It only melted in his mouth so he would spit it out. Happened at least twice already.
Rochelle's hand moved from Nick's hair to the side table. She grabbed the sippy cup and brought it to his lips, trying to coax a sip out of him. Water would help, she knew it would. He probably was dehydrated and it only made it worse.
But, Nick only moved his head away, there wasn't much space to move since he didn't want to stray far from Mama. He couldn't do that. He still turned his head away though.
She could've gotten mad, upset at him even. It's frustrating to see him suffer like this and he wasn't accepting her help. Still, she moved it away, not trying to upset him. He had already cried so much today.
"I only wanna help," Her hands rubbed up and down his back. She wanted to help him badly, but in typical Nick fashion, he wasn't letting her. Oh, why did he have to be so stubborn?
"Well, mama's gonna drink all your water then," She put the straw between her lips, taking small sips. Her eyes stayed close on the little one, hoping that wouldn't upset him but encourage him to take a drink.
Nick's eyes watched her, scrunching up a bit. He wasn't happy at all. The blanket and warmth be damned, his hand reached out with stiff fingers as he took it away. It was rough, uncoordinated. Well, at least he wanted a sip. She smiled at him, and he looked so angry at her. Though he was drinking more eagerly. It was a win-win regardless.
Again, she shifted the blanket around him. Mainly around his midsection. This was only the start of their night, but it'd be even longer if this kept up. Regardless, Ro was there, doing her duty as mama.
And another one cause Iβm having hella thoughtsβ¦do you have any thoughts about pet regression? I feel like Nick would really enjoy taking care of a cat regressor (I hope my phrasing is right oop), he is the biggest cat guy to meβ¦maybe heβs a cat regressor too πββ¬

π² Black cat Nick is definitely there. There'd be more then one occasion that you step out of your room for two minutes to go to the bathroom or get yourself a drink and all of a sudden he's right there. Blinds are open and your bed is covered with the morning sun.
Totally, starfishing and taking up the whole space.
π² I see him as cuddly, but don't move... or breathe for that matter. (My cat HATES me breathing when we cuddle. He'll actually run away when I do. Same energy)
π² LOVES bird and fish documentaries. They're calming. I see him getting migraines from loud noises. So they don't bother him too much.
π² He can and will bite. Not hard, but enough to get your attention.
π² Will lounge anywhere comfortable, even if it's half on top of you. Too bad, you're warm, and he'll gladly suffocate you. (Not really, he just has a reputation to uphold. He's more concerned about you breathing and that's it)

Concerned, very much so. Though, he tries to worm his questioning into conversation, asking if you're okay, checking your temperature, breathing, and clothing to make sure you're not overwhelmed all as subtly as possible. But he figures out that nothing is wrong. So when he finds nothing he scratches his head and sort of shrugs it off for now.
... He's definitely not in the kitchen searching on his phone.
After he figures it out, his concern lessens. He is on top of checking up on you. He doesn't want you getting overwhelmed and not saying nothing about it. He's not a fan of you being mute, he prefers communication, but he's not going to say that to your face and make you upset. It's not thw worse thing in the world for him.
Zoey
Gives you a questioning look but doesn't say much. I don't see her as a caregiver. She's too paranoid that she'll mess something up for that.
Actually pretty upset when you two are regressed and you're being quiet. If you're not in the same headspace then she can't do the same stuff she usually can and also, she thinks it's her fault for you being quiet. She has a temper but shes also very paranoid about it. She doesn't mean to be upset and explosive, it just... happens.
Pretty distant regardless. She really doesn't want you getting upset even if her being distant makes you upset. It's feels like she can't win
Francis
The first time he saw you being awfully quiet, the two of you were together, regressing. He thought that you were upset so he offered his bunny as compensation. It makes him feel better so it'll work for you too, right?
In headspace he never really understood, just kept offering stuff until he was satisfied that you were okay. Though out of his headspace, he stays on his own. He hates people.
...Unless you're suddenly in his room, he questions his hate for a moment. As long as you stay mostly quiet he'll let you stay.
Bill
Blunt. No way about it. He eases around the edges to make sure you don't start literally sobbing but still straight up asks. He's less about working its way into conversation, just "You're quiet."
He acknowledges it, but nothing more. Once it's explained he nods and then promptly goes out for a cigarette break.
Nothing changes. He's still there, that's all he cares about. He's there for you when you need him.

Ellis
Very confused at first. Definitely kept asking questions and getting no answers besides maybe some cue like nodding or shaking your head. He tried to not let his concern show as he sat on floor with you and continued playing.
After talking about it when you're big, he understands because there's an explanation (even if it's lackluster). Afterwards, he gets it better. Still worried, but he talks more, it's just like being around Nick when he's little. Not too big of a deal.
If he's regressing, it doesn't matter, he'll be talking regardless. He just thinks you're listening and he'll keep babbling away about whatever comes to mind.
Nick
He noticed, god forbid he didn't, but he didn't say much. You didn't seem stressed in any way so he wasn't worrying too much. After a talk. (Barely. It was more you talking to him). He looked out more for the next time, actually talking more to give you cues to follow along with.
He'll sit closer, do more of the talking in his unusual way, (mainly nudging people off). Yet, he'll stay close and make sure you're not feeling like a burden
The two of you regressing? Mute regressors are his favourite. Sure it's quiet, but it's quiet. He doesn't feel a migraine forcing its way behind his eyes, he can relax and play without having yelling in his ear. (Ellis isn't yelling but he sure talks loud).
Rochelle
She's not very concerned. Not that she doesn't care. She cares a lot more than the guys do half the time. However, she researches. Late hours in the night she's researching different things. Is it excessive... a little... but you're her baby. She needs to make sure you're just fine. No stress, just being all smiles and laughing.
Still like Ellis, she'll sit with you, and speak more. She doesn't treat you less because you're mouth is refusing to move, it's all fine for her.
Coach
Like Rochelle, not very concerned. He was a beloved gym teacher before all of this happened. Kids would go to him and spend time in his room, many didn't say much, just sit there.
As long as you're not stressed or anxious of anything he doesn't care. Regressing is supposed to be relaxing, to be a moment of relief.
Still, he cares deeply. He cares for the others and he cares for you just a bit more. (Don't tell Ellis that or he might be upset with him!)

Ellis would be the type to subtly talk about it for a while like "Have you ever heard of regression. Y'know when kids start acting like toddlers and having temper tantrums n' stuff like that. Yeah, I hear adults do it, ain't that crazy?"
Super bad but also super good at admitting it indirectly.
If you don't take it negatively (you better not) then he'll be in your room at a super late hour admitting a bunch of stuff he doesn't want to say to anyone else. He trusts you.
He'll admit the regression, mainly just how nice it feels to make you more on board with the idea that it isn't so bad. He just doesn't want you to think he's weird because of it. (There are some weirdos and he's fearing you'd think he's like them)
Nick
First time catching him regressing was a bad episode. Involuntarily regresses after a nightmare. He stumbled towards the kitchen to wash it all down with watering he did with his dry throat, only to break the glass to slip out of clammy hands and break. Unfortunately, alerting you in the process. (Of course, YOUR room had to be the closest)
It's hard for him to admit it, but the signs are there. If you already know about Ellis OR research, it's easier to spot.
Once it becomes more of an understanding between you two he'll sit a little bit closer, and offer you things he never did before. It's his way to make you stay quiet about it. Definitely, not cause you're the only one who seems to understand it better and he's gravitating towards that sense of safety...
Zoey
Movie night, popcorn, snacks, drinks the whole thing. Obviously, she picked a horror movie.
Though quickly got out of hand. She was scared of each Jumpstart and the monster but if you turned it off, she got mad and was genuinely so upset at you.
She's grown up enough to watch these movies. She swears!
Francis
You found out because you needed him and went into his room to go find him. He wasn't there but you found a raggedy stuffed bunny that had a missing beady eye and mismatched fabric. Looked like Francis made it himself with scrap fabrics. Not to mention a blanket that looked like it was found in the trash. They didn't smell too bad but they looked dirty and well-loved.
When you tried mentioning it casually in conversation he got very defensive about it.
May or may not have caught him in the act of him playing with said scruff bunny. You needed proof and you sure got it.
He still doesn't know that's the reason you found out

Nick sat on the couch, a little perched on his lap. He felt ridiculous like this. The little leaned against him in a blanket like some sort of baby swaddle thing. Whatever it eas it had you wrapped up like a burrito.
He never felt the fatherly type, but some paternal urges were threatening to rise at the edges. It all made him feel uneasy, unprepared. He rarely dealt with kids. You were no exception. Yet, the others said he was better off doing the job then they were. Well, mainly cause of Ellis last time. He shook his head slightly, pushing those thoughts away.
He kept you tucked carefully to his body. He knew the signs, that subtle shifting. You were beginning to get upset. At what? He wasn't sure, just kept his hand behind your head, the other around your back and kept you there.
He hated the "L-word" with every fiber of his being, but he was beginning to like this. A quiet morning, no screaming, no crying (hopefully), just them. Their own little bubble. He let out a light sigh. He felt content after what felt like eons not having that.
Shifting around, he sunk back into the couch, you followed suit. Not like you had a choice really. Still, he manually did it himself. He shifted you so your body wasn't folding weird of fabrics twisting unevenly. When the blanket came loose, he easily tucked it back in. You were comfortable, so he was comfortable.
Thats how it was. How it was meant to be.

General
π» Any crying cause he hurt himself REALLY bad. Nick's just there, sitting with him and any necessary cleaning up, bandaging or putting ice on it, is done so it'll stop hurting faster
π² Nick's not a huge hugging guy, or physical touch really, but he'll suck it up for a bit so that Ellis could get a hug to help him feel better.
π» I feel like Ellis wouldn't be too much of a crier, more proud that he did that. It's the constant stinging that get to him (Me too bro me too)
π² ^^ Whining about how it hurts, yet, he's also tapping at the scraps and bruises
π» Nick's 100% the type to swat Ellis's hands away from the cuts. "It's not sanitary," he'd say every time without fail. That or some variation
π» I feel like Ellis has a pretty strong immune system, doesn't mean it's impossible though!
π² His symptoms are quite toned down. Mostly sniffles or coughs. However, headaches are a different story
π» Once had a nasty headache AND coughing. He just stayed in his room, unhappy and little. The lights stayed off and he begged anyone who came around to keep them off
π² Nick knew this wasn't healthy, because being in a dark room isn't the best.... but he can make another exception.
π» The two sat on Ellis' bed, sitting mainly in silence. Eventually, able to convince Ellis to let him turn on a lamp. Even if Ellis just buried his face into anything nearby, blankets, pillows, his hands. Even Nick at one point!
π² Nick's making sure that Ellis is staying hydrated and clean. Nothing worse then being sick and feeling worse without water, or even starting to get better but then getting worse once again
π» ^^ A clean freak with sick regressors. Doing laundry, doing garbage, and thoroughly cleaning off dishes then putting them into the pile in the sink. He'll also do the toothbrushes because yuck

Basically mute regressor is just being nonverbal. Like those days you just don't want to talk to anyone or anything.
Age wise, I'm not totally sure if I fully understood what you're asking, but age regressors can be any age. The ones I explained were age ranges β many regressors are different age ranges. Some may have a small age ranges like 2-4 or a larger one like 4-12.
Hopefully, this answers the question, I may have read / interpreted it wrong. So if I did I'm SUPER SUPER sorry !!

No, no, this isn't a stupid question at all. I get that it's hard to find stuff out especially when it comes to thing like age regression because there's : A - Sterotypes. B - Stigmatism.
I'm just going to go through a simplified list but I can go into more detail if needed (There is not harm in asking, I promise)

For starters, just some basic background knowledge. Age regression is when someone mentally goes down in age, which leads to more "childish" behaviour. Age regression is something people use to get away from stress or even relax. Now this is TOTALLY different from ageplay. Ageplay is basically when you are a predator to put it simply
Caregivers
Caregivers or CGs are people β a friend, family or partner β takes care of the person who regresses. This entirely varies from person to person, so no two Cgs will be the same. To put it simply a paternal figure to a child.
Caregivers is a broad term, meaning anyone can be one. Reminder that even if their a cg, it doesn't mean they can't regress :D
Regressors
Different types of regressors are based around mental age but depending on who you ask, they can change. A huge example of this would be toddler space. Some count the age from 2-4, and I've seen some do 2-5 or 3-5. Typically this is from 2-4 though
I'll go from the smallest age and then work my way up
Baby regressors
These regressors are usually 0-1 years of age, needing the most care and having a lot of dependence. Realistically, think of an infant. How would they act? That's pretty much what you can expect out of a baby regressor. They're... babies. And that's okay :D
For each baby regressor it's different - money and who you live with make a huge difference. Some wear onesies or diapers. Using pacifiers is a common thing aswell (Some do use thumb sucking as a substitute)
Toddler regressors
Toddler regressors can usually range from 2-4. Their personality vary. Some may be more energetic and all over the place or more quiet. In some cases, nonverbal. There is more independence but they are still quite dependent on basic tasks. Ex. Getting things like clothes and shoes on, making food (more chances to burn themselves) and sometimes remembering things
I know for me personally, my hands get quite numb so it makes simple tasks REALLY hard. Just trying to write with a pencil seems literally impossible or even typing on my phone (which is why I take day long breaks sometimes I just can't type </3)
Littles
Littles fit into the 5-8. Little kiddos who have more independence but need supervision for more dangerous things (Again cooking) etc.
Middle regressors
This category is different for everyone, I personally believe that Middles ane range is from 9-12. Most independent, not too different besides some speech differences (simpler language)
Age Dreamers
Age dreamers are different from regressors. Age dreaming is basically controlled regression. It's age regression without fully slipping so they're still in control and are able to pull themselves out of it at any time like a day dream

Each regressor is their own person and their personalitand likes WILL vary (obviously but I have to mention it) I am a regressor / age dreamer and I like horror, there's nothing wrong with it that and if someone says it is, they're wrong. So wrong.
π» Waking up little and sick is the double combo and it sucks bad. If you have just a regular cold to something more serious Ellis is concerned regardless
π» A common cold? No, just a way to cuddle up in bed for a bit while the world goes around outside
π» Worse sickness? Like your throwing up? He's got you, putting the pail under you, rubbing your back, holding your hair (If needed), or just your hand as you crush it
π» He's just sitting there telling you how good you are. That even though it hurts you'll feel better
π» Afterwards he'll help clean up, mainly just pushing the bucket away so you don't smell it and get sick again (Been there before, not fun)
π» If your more adamant on going outside, he'll make sure your bundled up. He knows that you feel at least somewhat okay, even just a running nose isn't make him immediately deny it
π» Nick says that you should stay inside. Should you? Probably... but does Ellis care... not really. If you wanna go outside you wanna go outside!
π» But if your any worse sick, he can still be convinced but, he's going to put his foot down eventually
π» Food wise? It depends how much you can handle. Some simple crackers, or maybe some soup. He'll try and get you to eat but if you just can't he won't be as pushy
π» He won't tell you but he's definitely upset that his little is sick. Like what the heck?
π» Pillow forts? Ab-sol-ut-ely (his words not mine)
π» He already took some pillow, blankets, and chairs to go make a pillow fort wherever you wanted.
π» If you get abnormally sweaty from a fever. He'll play as towel boy, wiping at your forehead, and if needed, get you some different clothes. They can be washed after you done being sick so he doesn't care too much. Just as long as your comfortable
π» Colouring? A good activity to do even while not being sick. He'll definitely have a colouring battle with you, then vote on whose is better. Unfortunately, yours is better... awh darn
π» If you not up and ready to get outta bed? He's fine with that. Though he will scooch in beside you and start rambling about random stories either that being his memories of his childhood, or Keith, or even some more recent zombie stuff (Ofc he'll make it all dramatic and more pg-13. You don't need to hear all those yucky details)
π» You don't even have to worry about him getting sick either. No matter if you have a weak immune system or a very strong one he somehow never gets sicks... somehow
π» If you ask, he'll only shrug and say, "I dunno. Guess I'm the lords favorite." (I'm pretty sure he's Catholic)
SO SORRY for my disappearance for like a month. I got sick (I think it was covid), and I was quite literally dying. Life also got very crazy since then, so I've been running around like a chicken without a head
