As for how this is possible: could be related to Ralsei's "Darker than dark" monologue about how illusions can be formed from the lack of light. Darkners are already that by nature, but what if you covered a Darkner in even more darkness? Let's say, a full-body costume?

Technically speaking, Battat shouldn't be able to control the mouth of the Small Mike costume like his own, but he can. Pluey shouldn't be able to bat the eyes of the Cat Mike costume (moreso that Shadowguys don't even have visible eyes), but he can. They likely merge with the darkness inside the costume and fill it up as though it is a second skin, becoming the illusion itself. This could be why Jongler has two legs when playing Mike but one out of the costume.
