Honestly, I love it when my muscles are sore after a workout. It feels amazing and makes me feel like my body is capable of so much.

We need people in our lives with whom we can be as open as possible. To have real conversations with people may seem like such a simple, obvious suggestion, but it involves courage and risk.

Things to Stop Saying to Yourself
1. “I’m no good at …”
Say instead “It’s just a skill, and something I can learn.”
2. “I’m such a failure …”
Say instead “I got it wrong, and everybody makes mistakes.”
3. “There’s no point in trying …”
Say instead “It maybe hard, but step by step will get me there in time.”
4. “Everybody hates me; I’ve got no friends …”
Say instead “It doesn’t really matter what these people think about me. There are others who will recognize my value and true worth.”
5. “I hate myself. I deserve to be rejected …”
Say instead “I am beautiful inside, and have value and worth. I deserve to be cherished and be treated well.”
Never discredit your gut instinct. You are not paranoid. Your body can pick up on bad vibrations. If something deep inside of you says something is not right about a person or situation, trust it.

Progress. Just make progress. It’s OK to have setbacks … It’s OK to draw a line in the sand and start over again - and again. Just make sure you’re moving the line forward … Take baby steps, but at least take steps that stop you from being stuck. Then change will come. And it will be good.

I’ve thought about giving up. Funny how it’s always an option. The easiest one, even. I’ve thought about turning my back from the things that I wanted do just because I was scared of failing, of making mistakes, of disappointing. But I’ve thought about being stagnant, too. Because if I were to drop everything just because they scare me, even without trying at all, then I would never learn, I would never grow up. I would never be brave like a warrior. And for that I knew that if I insist on being confined in these squares, always stuck with what I already know, I knew I would always be a step short from becoming that version of myself whom I would be proud of; of becoming someone whom my five-year-old self would look up to, whom she’d consider her hero. And God knows I don’t want to fail her. So get out of bed, it’s a brand new day. Go on, for you have work to do.

Autonomy
The best part of working out regularly and eating healthy is knowing that whatever physical things come your body can handle it. Going for a hike with friends? No problem. Trying a new fitness class? You know you can do it. Long day on your feet? You’re ready for it. Knowing that your body can do what it needs to do is one of the best feelings
