Oh, it's still fantasy, after all these years. My tastes within the genre have shifted quite significantly, but the genre has also grown so much that I always find new and fun things to read, many of them surprisingly high quality. I'm doing the r/fantasy book bingo this year, and I highly recommend that as a starting point to expand out of more "traditional" sci-fi/fantasy reads. 6. what books have you read in the last month? Last month has been a bit dry, but so far this year I've really enjoyed The Spear Cuts Through Water, A Memory Called Empire, Paladin of Souls, and Dungeon Crawler Carl. All are very different from each other, but I found all of them fantastic. 12. did you enjoy any compulsory high school readings? I enjoyed basically all of my mandatory high school readings except for one. Everything Eça de Queirós and Fernando Pessoa is always fantastic, the Lusiads are interesting in their own way. But I have never truly been able to enjoy Saramago, and I'm under the impression that Memorial do Convento is actually the least interesting of his novels. But blablabla Nobel prize, so here we are. 19. most disliked popular books? Hm, to take a few from different categories: The Alchemist - only time I've read a book written in my own language that felt like a translation from english - it's just so mediocre Lady Chatterlys Lover - despised everything about it The God of Small Things - The writing style makes my skin crawl A Court of Thorns and Roses - the levels of stupidity of the main characters are truly astounding and ao3 writes better sex
