Cristiano smiled when he saw Annie in the kitchen with her back to him before he walked up behind her and put an arm around her to show her the cupcake he had for her. “Happy birthday, cupcake,” he told her before kissing her cheek softly. “I don’t know how well that’ll go with white wine, but I’ll take a glass and celebrate with you,” he added as he rested his chin on her shoulder.

Cristiano lit up and sighed when Annie cupped his face as he set the red velvet cupcake he presented to her on the counter behind her. “Security is pretty easy to get past here,” he told her as he wrapped his arms around her waist before leaning in to kiss her longly, the last time he’d gotten to do so being far too long ago. “Especially when you have clearance from Agent Coulson to be in the building,” he added with a grin so she’d know he wasn’t risking getting in trouble and caught by being there because of the arrangement he had made with the aforementioned S.H.I.E.L.D agent who gave him just about the most clearance he could get.

Annie practically melted in his arms when he kissed her- God had it been almost two years since she had seen him? She moved her hand from his cheek to the back of his neck to thread her fingers through his hair and when he broke the kiss she frowned before looking at him in disbelief. “Coulson knows you’re here- Cristiano, what did you do?” She asked with a smile. “How are you here?” She questioned him before pecking his lips again, not wanting to stop kissing him since he was here and she could.

"I told Coulson about us and that I had information S.H.I.E.L.D would be very interested in and in exchange for being specifically under your protection, he got the information and he even threw in allowing me to live in the Tower with you," he explained to her with a smile as he wrapped his arms around her waist even tighter, never wanting to let go now that he was with her again. "And we may have specially arranged that I could come on your birthday to surprise you," he added before kissing her again.
