calls to her like a beacon & from the first moment that she had met him, she’s followed the soft vibration home. it should feel wrong, how easy it is to be near @seekher . . . how welcomed his presence is considering the damage that had been done ( but she knows he was never a part of it . . . that he had nearly paid a price with his own life to ensure that she kept hers for if only a few more moments longer ). a dark knight of sorts, a savior without a clue to how important he was to her fairytale ( the supposed villain treating her better than the prince ever had was a pill almost too hard to swallow ). sweatpants loosely hang from her hips & a poorly tied hospital robe covers petite shoulders, the chill of the night wind instantly sending a shiver to shake her frame ( but the roof is the closest escape that she has while her body struggles to heal ). isn’t surprised to see him up here, neither of them seem to do well when the walls close in & all they are left with is the steady beep of a machine & the overbearing echo of their own thoughts. shouldn’t be a newsflash to anyone that the rules don’t apply to them ( that they never bothered to even listen in the first place ).
settles against the gravel next to him, the injured palm cradled close to her chest doesn’t stop her from lighting a stolen cigarette to provide some relief to a horrid craving. the bright dots in the sky obstructed only briefly by the puffs of smoke released as her head came to rest against his thigh . . . allowing a sense of relaxation to wash through her broken frame, more at peace now than she had felt in days. something would give . . . he’d leave & continue his recovery elsewhere, the flashes of a camera would fade & reality would sneak it’s way back into her life ( a familiar loneliness waiting to take her hand & remind her what she didn’t have in this world ). but for now she had his company, & it was the only thing she could make sense of, grace wasn’t prepared to be without it just yet. sooner or later the nurse she had given the slip would find her & a lecture would follow ( how twisted was it that she almost longed for those moments . . . where she felt cared for by a stranger to fill the endless void in her chest ). lips turn into a sympathetic grin, wide blue eyes focusing on the grown stubble that coated the underline of his jaw . . . she didn’t doubt his search would only leave him with more questions than it did answers. ❝ when you find it . . . let me know. ❞
